Default If you could change one rule...

If you could change one rule to tweak things in your favor without going overboard, what would it be and why?

Let's try to keep this constructive.

    Here's what I would change:

Koldun Lord's Elite Cadre is changed to [Greylord].

This would allow Valachev, and the Greylord Escort to take advantage of Battle Wizard. This wouldn't be overpowered but could allow for some fun combos as your Doom Reavers could charge and the Escort might still get a Frostbite off. Alternatively, Valachev could charge with his unit and Zephyr if he managed to kill something. Obviously, it wouldn't do anything for Zerkova. But the Greylord Outriders...
The forums seem to have one of two responses to new models. (A) "This model is worthless, I'll never use it." or (B) "That model is over powered, it's going to break the game." A few models get both responses, which ends up being really hilarious.
But what's wrong with saying "This model is circumstantially good and it's up to me as a good player to exploit its strengths and minimize its weaknesses"?

I'd be fine with this, so long as it applied to buffs as well.

Shield guard only works if the "shield guarding model has LOS to the attacker" iso the other way around.

Argh, I have two rules. First of all: Deep water being so incredibly deep you can't fly over it, is just the most rediculous rule ever made in the history of TTG's.
Another that comes to mind is Shield Guard. Not being able to put your shield in front of the guy you want to protect because the attacker can't see you is just stupid, especially considering that shooting into melee allows you to hit dudes you weren't even within range of in the first place.

House Shyeel myrms have a 1d3 force field regen. Phoenix Field gives a 1d6 regen. Remove the ability to burn focus to recharge the force field.

Also, rework Power booster so it allocates 1 Focus regardless of whether the warjack already has focus on it.

    Shield Guard fix (which is lesser since I simply assume it's coming some day);

Otherwise allow a Model with a Ranged Weapon to use it while it is Engaging (still cannot while Engaged).

range attacks can ignore other bases of equal or smaller size of target model outside of 1".

this is the only rule i think should be changed just b/c a line can be drawn from a larger base model to a smaller with no other models (same base size) within 1" of that target.

would make the game a little more fun.

    ex.
"do i want to keep my caster behind this warrior wall and take splash from AoE's or keep it back and take direct hits, hmmm?"

but of course a small base model would still be hidden behind med. base and so forth.

I would remove the win condition from assassination and make beast/jacks go autonomous upon the owner's death. Then replace the assassination win condition with points accumulated via in-game objectives (assassination could potentially be one of those). In essence, make the win conditions much more akin to the system Malifaux uses rather than always having the kill one specific model opt out.

I would make Warmachine arc nodes across the board one point cheaper. Obviously the Hordes 1 point nodes wouldn't get this discount. I don't think it would break the game, even those Cryx'y ones. Rather it would increase the flexibility of multiple lists very slightly.

Undead models suffer an additional d6 of damage against fire attacks.

Seriously, there has to be a downside to being undead, and I'd think being all dried up a dusty would make you pretty prone to open flames.

Somebody suggested that magic weapons do an extra die against undead. That might be interesting.

I'd make it so hunter doesn't ignore cover.

After fixing shield guard, that is. Drop LOS from the equation completely and just add a clause that doesn't let you use it to guard huge bases.

Rasheth loses Blood Mark for Parasite and gains Harrow on all magic attacks. Also remove the once per turn limit on Dark Rituals.

I'd like to chuck in some minor disadvantage to being undead and minor advantage to having an elemental weapon type. My gun has the corrosion disadvantage sounds wierd to people coming from other systems.
I don't mind hunter ignoring cover, rather that it seems like everything has an ignore cover ability.
Oh, and re-rule Locker so it isn't the most OP animus in the game.
    Shield guard goes without saying.

I've often said that Magic Weapons should deal an extra damage dice against undead models. This does several things. Firstly, it makes Magic Weapons even more viable than they are now. Secondly, it punishes players for bringing a horde of undead models to the table if they happen to face something with Magic Weapons. Thirdly, it makes Cryx warcasters (and Maelok) even more vulnerable to assassinations. This last one is the most contentious because you really don't normally need an extra damage die against undead infantry. But punishing the Asphyxiouses & Venethraxes of the world might get some people's ire up. That's to be understood. Personally, I think there should be a disadvantage to being undead - especially as a warcaster / warlock. I know there are those who disagree.
The forums seem to have one of two responses to new models. (A) "This model is worthless, I'll never use it." or (B) "That model is over powered, it's going to break the game." A few models get both responses, which ends up being really hilarious.

I'd like to see spell ward actually protect against spells, I hate how you can have something warded just to have your opponent go "ok Ill target that guy behind/next to him and damage him that way."

Off all the changes mentioned in the thread this is the one that would have the biggest impact on the game.

I wonder, if there is a reason why you would want that out? It will bring back the days were with killing the leader model you could cripple units completely.

It doesn't have to go back to being as crippling, but the removal of it in MkII was a huge buff to infantry - disproportionately larger than any "buff" that jacks got.

Making the loss of a unit leader mean more than simply the new leader not being able to attack that turn would actually mean unit leaders (and in a lot of instances command itself) have some meaning on the battlefield. Personally I'd have promotion happen during the maintenance phase, but the new leader must be within the command range of a model with the Commander ability.

I have three I would like to change or amend...

    1) Amend the wording and add the Steelhead tag to Rocinante.

    2) Amend the Cygn- err, I mean Orgun Assault Corps to also work for Khador.

    C) Reverse the "head so far up yer butt you have to yawn to see where you are going" ruling that a previously knocked down warjack's furnace does not get extinguished if said warjack is pushed into water. Seriously, this makes about as much sense as putting breast implants of an orangutan...
This ruling truly only affects the Gator players, as this WAS our primary way of dealing with heavy armour!!

But then they'd have to reverse the ruling that Cassius' feat doesn't work on previously knocked down models too; and we all know how broken that would be!

I would say Non Warcaster/Warlock undead models suffer an additional die of damage vs spells/magic weapons. My understanding is that Undead was supposed to be a bad thing. But in this game its an amazing ability. There should still be a disadvantage for not having eyes
