After having played a few games with threemo yesterday there's quite a few things I really feel need to be in his lists that will hurt him in multiple list steamroller environments due to character restrictions. Sure the Thunderhead and Strangewayes wont need to be anywhere else, but there are many other key character solos/units that really make the list hum dangerously

The biggest problem is gonna be Reinholt. So many of our casters really love bringing the gobber along and the competition will be fierce for who gets him. N3mo's gun is so useful, and the second shot gives you some real scary capabilites. Hell, with that second shot on feat turn you can vaporize squishy high def casters from VERY far away with overboost and 4d6 pow 10s. This probably will mean n3mo gets paired with one of the haley's or strykers, but limits his pairings with both caines, siege, sloan and others.

Piper will also be in contention for use with N3mo, since he has no troop protection spells your limited to Juniors arcane shield and pipers tough. Since you would usually rather AS be on a Stormwall or the Thunderhead, you leave all our stromnouns sitting at 12/15, and tough is gonna be almost necessary to help them stick around.

In all my games yesterday I also brought Aiyana and Holt in his list. They solved ALOT of problems for me and I can definitely see them going in n3mo's lists above all others. None of our lightning guns are magical you see, and that will either A) force you to use Chain Lightning a bunch or B) take B13th, ATGM's inorder to get some magic weapons into your list. Aiyana+Holt not only give you magic weapons so your Thunderhead can pulse incorporeal models but can also turn N3mo's boss lighting gun into a magic weapon also, all the better for zapping passaged jacks and wiping out units of choir or the like. Not to mention that lots of high armor can be a problem (one of my games put me against 5 titans o.O) and harm will help you crack that armor with much greater efficiency.

Overall, I think n3mo's growing on me. At first I was on the fence about it all, but once I watched a stormclad under feat turn scrap a heavy with his sword while the electroleaps scrapped a nearby light jack, I was sold.
If only finch didnt have 12 armor

Accuracy has been my issue playing new Nemo.

All those lightning attacks, and only the Storm Strider, Nemo, Laddermore and the jacks are better than RAT 5. (I don't even consider the stormtower, as I always, always, outrun the effective threat on light artillery.)

With that in mind, I think I've settled in on 2 stormclads, as many stormblades as possible, and a storm strider as the core of my army. I find that I still don't like the thunderhead much. His POW 14s aren't going to end anything heavy, even under that feat, and 12 points is still a lot to pay for infantry clearance when a storm list annihilates infantry so easily. Thats a problem that only ramps up when e-leaps aren't grounding out in your own troops. I'd rather have more s'blades, another strider, another s'clad. Just about anything, really.

Another model on the bubble is s'guard. Those guys never do much more than die. I get that a unit with reach and ranked attack is really cool for a guy like Nemo nouveau, but I hate watching point per model guys getting kicked around by every damn thing. With no defensive buffs on my caster they are tying up junior and Rhupert, just to get to the fight. That means I can't play the theme, which makes them all the more expensive. (of course if I bite the bullet and play theme they end up dyeing too quickly, making me wish I was playing non-theme. A real catch-22)

The same goes for Storm Lances, only more so. Expensive, fragile, inaccurate, they need so much help I'd rather leave them out and play models that aren't dictating everything from list construction to order of operations.

Thats my impression after a handful of games, anyway. I'm shifting to more spell slinging, rather than jack powering, but I'm keeping those two s'clads in there and running them on stolen focus. I'm still looking for a decent front line to get the jacks and blades delivered, and I miss some of the tools that other Nemos took for granted (speed, infantry protection) or the things that other casters who run similar lists provide (accuracy buffs) but there are enough high points that I'm trying to work around these things. He isn't the new hottness that had people flipping out when he dropped, but he isn't new coke either.

Im not completely agreeing with you there Dino. The lack of movement buff hurts, but I think his other abilities more than makes up for it. Two clads are awesome with him Im so psyched about running them full power for 2 focus!
I feel like you do with T-Head, he's simply not strong enough since Nemos gun and chain lightning does the same thing that he does, I ended up dumping the tier list for Reinholdt and dumping t-head for a stormclad.
I also think that Nemo has two sub par spells in his list, I would have gladly traded both of those spells for locomotion or pf course energizer. But alas electrify is apparantly a spell that PP actually thinks is worth a darn.

In my experience Stormguard *are* the unit that delivers other units safely up the field >_>

With regard to Stormlances, I really see no reason to take them without Laddermore (outside of the immense price). I think Laddermore + 3 Lances is far superior to 5 Lances and no Laddermore, doubly so with cNemo, because RAT 7 POW 14 shots are so much better than RAT 5 POW 12. Maneuvering the Lances to stay within 5" of Laddermore has never been a problem for me since it's effectively a 12"-diameter zone the Lances must merely stick a toe into to benefit from.

This thread is interesting. I'm running him completely differently than you guys and Loving him

I run Clad, Wall, T-head, with JR I don't really worry that much about the rest. In theme it's stormguard and a tower, out of theme it's Reinholdt and ...varies. Black 13th are pretty cool

tHead has this pulse rule, which people put a lot of focus on, but it turns out that boosting to hit and buying two more auto-hits is pretty sweet. I like 3 boosted power 14s. sometimes you even get to pulse, and that's just awesome.

Still double clad is awesome, but less exciting without a move speed buff, IMO.

Because he can throw out one more? I find leap control to be invaluable in getting lightning where I need it, and I have feated when I was afraid the POW wouldn't be enough.

No, the lack of speed hurts, but the e-leap range game is so strong when you don't groud out on friendlies that I tend not to mind my jacks running second line.

I'm thinking about running PKs and Gallant with him. With the PKs and Finch Gallant is just as focus-efficient as the Stormclad and Lightning Shroud mitigates Gallant's main flaw. Of course I also don't own a second Stormclad, otherwise I'd be doing that instead.

Bought n3mo the other day and cannit wait to use him! No joke as I paid for him there was a massive thunder storm. Needless to say I took it as a sign

I find that when I want to cast chain lightning my models aren't mixed up. I also really hate rolling a "1" when I can only cast it once.

there are many ways to play N3mo, which is why he's interesting. I'm running him in theme with tHead and 2 storm towers, I have no worries about killing enough infantry.

my current n3mo list @ 50 has done quite well for me.. rocks the double clad blade synergy as well as the thead for range assassination. paired it with pcaine for a SR event and did quite well between the two lists.. only losing to a cryxian by a 1/16th of a inch... n3mo is a excellent caster for those of us who love the lightning.

I actually like Nemo1 better for Chain Lightning because he can take Wyshnalyrr and get better accuracy and damage for no focus loss.

Indeed, I think several of us are going sans lancer with N3mo and giving up on chain lightning unless the opportunity presents itself in addition to gun leap shots.

That said, as much as lancers bug me, I can't run pNemo without one. How do you keep Squishypants alive without one?
Huh. Six months away from Cygnar and I've forgotten how to win... until Kara Sloan goes all 'bullet to the head' several games in a row. It's good to be back.

Can't N3MO take Renholdt along to re-roll the magic attack?

N3mo can take Reinholdt (as he's not an attachment), but the reroll comes from the squire. Reinholdt gives lucky charm (additional die, drop the lowest).

OIC... oh yeah... well, at least that's something... unless you roll really low on all 3 dice (which is possible.. I've rolled triple snake eyes), that Lucky Charm does give N3MO some accuracy help.

I'm torn about the Lancer. It's not just Chain Lightening—Force Hammer is just begging to be arc'd.

I only bring a Lancer if I also have Sword Knights to flank with it. Otherwise, I'll just cast my spells from my caster (especially with Wyshnalyrr). Getting close to the enemy makes me think about threats and more actively work to counter them. Of course it does occasionally end in my caster getting assassinated, but I usually learn something.

I wonder if it might be a good idea to focus on anti-armor, since you get so much anti highdef infantry almost incidentally. Just n3mo with a reinholdt, and chain lightning, can kill an awful lot of high-def stuff.

I'm not going to bother with a Lancer on Nemo 3. Too much other goodness to take to put the point into that. I also think I might drop Reinholdt as he really hasn't come into play as much as I thought he would...

I really like running Defenders and when they come out Avengers with Nemo 3... it's just that Finch basically gives powerful shot to a jack. And with Lightning Shroud and Finch a Defender becomes Range 16 Power 15 Powerful Shot gun with a P&S 18 cortex damaging melee weapon with e-leap on MAT 7. I mean.... seriously. That's just nuts... nuts I say. In a great way.

Also I need to quite assaulting things with so many blades. I have killed pretty much everything I have assaulted so far with just the ranged attacks... I think Mulg might have taken 1 melee hit to finish him off. Even Avatar died to pure ranged attacks. I keep the blades safe most of the time by running the bulk of them behind the Strider as a late game backup and running the WA's as a ranged unit pretty much with maybe one or two guys out front for lane blocking and bait. That CMD 10 means they can really be all over the place and still be in formation.

Tried the Lances in the list a few times but didn't like them. Die too easily... great reinforcements though.

All in all I love Nemo 3. Very fun.

Can Stormwall Trample then place lightning pod? Can colossals even trample? My Wrath book hasn't arrived yet.

If he can trample, then you'd have pretty nuts threat range just trampling over stuff in the way to get within range to pod next to the warcaster.

Yes it can. Its a very popular strategy to trample first turn and drop a pod to set up triangulations quickly. Colossals can make all power attacks and two incredible new ones.

Could you elaborate on that? What's the goal? A horizontal triangulation layout in the midfield?

Yes. If the opponent doesnt take it out you can cover a huge area next turn with the second pod and strategically placed storm smiths. At the ETC event this weekend there where pods left and right and its really annoying to play against, since it just utterly trashed infantry.

Electro-Leap only triggers when you hit a model with the Voltaic Fist and the Sweep attack does not use this weapon.

Sweep attack takes a special attack (1 focus) and you loose both melee attacks. And it is only in 1 of the 90 degree front arcs. No Electro-Leep. But it is 2" reach.
