    Default Siege + Hunter Doubletap

How do you guys feel about the prospect of taking a Hunter with Siege to doubletap heavies on the feat turn. I've found that one Breach shot won't normally down a Heavy, and so I figured another reliable AP shot from the Hunter will help to dispatch some stuff instead of wasting a second shot from a Defender or Siege himself. Those high power shots are at a premium on the feat turn and I don't wanna waste them on clipping the last few boxes off of something.

Also, Hunter's AP is constant, meaning I can take potshots with him up until Siege pops the feat, leaving my heavy hitters to drop blasts on infantry and stuff if need be, knowing that the armor is being softened up.

It's a valid tactic. It takes about four or five boosted Hunter shots to take down a Khador heavy, but a couple Hunter shots plus Siege's shot under Breach plus a follow-on shot is usually more effective. Some people take one Hunter and one Defender for target-engagement efficiency.

I've been toying around with the idea of one defender on Siege and two hunters on an ATGM UA. On feat turn that can do massive damage to key targets.

It does work quite well. But you are putting a large % of your firepower into a single target. And I use the idea the Cap'n suggested. That way you can have the ATGM UA give the Hunter a boosted shot to take advantage of Critical Brutal or Thunderbolt.

Well with Reinholdt on Siege, you can reliably put high power shots on 3 different targets with him and one Defender on Breach turn, and then whatever one looks most advantageous to pull down, throw a Hunter shot on top.

Using the two Hunters under the feat from Siege with sniper-ed Armor Piercing shots is pretty much super effective against heavily armored targets. Two hunter shots will be incredibly super effective.

There is a great deal hordes in my meta so, the two hunters is common combo for Cygnar players in my meta. People in my meta will just not play against people who play siege, because the feat turn means they lose their heavies for the most part. Theres is also plenty of khador and menoth and the Siege plan works just as well there.

Those ARM 18 heavies got to ARM 9, suddenly an arcane tempest gun mage is dice plus one for damage. ARM 20 heavies are now dice for damage. So, it's extremely effective to use two hunters marshaled under the arcane tempest gun mages feat turn from siege.

See, I'm not too sold on the idea- and here's why -

While hunter is a very good jack ,it only really shines with casters which give him extra shots or movement enhancements .

Siege isn't one of them...and a hunter is in itself costly for what it does. For a single point more you get an Ironclad which can on the feat turn wreck face of heavies with a single focus point ,from Arlan for example. This is a redundant idea ,serving only to prove a point.

Hunter gains nothing from Siege or his feat- better take a minuteman - has 2 shots, can deal with infantry (feat turn is funny )

So long as you realize that the Hunters' AP doesn't stack with Breach. But yeah, the seem like a good clean-up crew. Muahaha

Minuteman was also a thought. It's my favorite 'jack in theory because it reminds me of my beloved Tau Battlesuits... I will say though, I don't really agree with your assessment of the Hunter with Siege. Sure, Siege may not do much for the Hunter, but the beauty of the thing is that it's so independent...only really needing one focus to perform well...and allows Siege to not worry about wasting his high POW shots taking down near dead heavies. That last point is especially crucial on his feat turn. The Minuteman is a way more focus-intensive to boot.

All models in WM/H should have some synergy with the overall plan of attack/defense ,and buff or be buffed by other models in the list. Hunter in a Siege list shots one time a turn -meaning 3 times in the game,on the average (since it's usually over by turn 4) .
In that light, you CAN take the hunter - but apart from turning it's weapon to magical ,there's no synergy.

Are 6 points worth 3-4 shots?

4 shots will do 28 dmg to a ARM 18 target... this might be enough- Do you feel lucky?
