Default Tipping the scales in our favour?

    Welcome one and all,

Looking at the Collossals release and everyones excitement (Mainly Cygnar), we now have access to the wondrous Stormwall and N3mo.

This is all well and good and I can't wait to get stuck in and have some gmes with them. However, the real question is, has this tipped the balance in our favour? Has this changed Cygnar and will it bring us back to a level of competitive play?

Now I know there hasn't been enough tourny showings and games yet to really decide where this will put Cygnar, and even the first few tourney showings may be blurred as people havn't quite yet figured out how to deal with them properly as it's all mainly speculation etc.

What I want to hear from you is your opinions on the matter. Obviously Stormwall and N3mo are very good, but what it boils down to is that Cygnar is still Cygnar. Unless we take a Stormwall in every one of our lists.

So what do you guys think? Can we now compete on a competitive level agaisnt the likes of Cryx, Legion etc without taking a Stormwall every game?

Personally I'm looking at N3mo, p and e Haley and Stormwalls mybe in all three but not decided.

I like both versions of Haley with the Stormwall: P because of how her denial game is amplified by its shooting + melee capabilities and E because a 9" walk is absolutely amazing for that little less than 5" base. Also, potentially 7 POW 20 melee attacks with Reach at MAT 8 (factoring in TK reversal of whatever thing you want to smack up) is disgusting good.

From what I've seen N3mo is built to work with all our storm stuff. I'm just a bit wary about delivering it, considering how -wonderful- the SG/SB stat lines are (12/15, woo-hoo...) I don't have his rules in front of me though so I'm not entirely sure what he does for infantry besides the feat + control-area wide insulation from electro leaps. Also a dependence on typed damage is never a good thing, given Circle's type resistance and our bad match-ups vs. them already.

Those two additions bring us up a lot. Not as much as Galleon does for Mercs (making one of their formerly worst casters totally viable for tournament play IMO), but a POW 20 beatstick with 2 semi-Defender guns & built-in single-wound infantry protection is nothing to sneeze at.

I thought Cygnar was competitive before (at the local level, as few of us are good enough to play at national cons, so what does it matter?). That said, I think PP knew Cygnar was a tad lower on the power scale and gave us pretty great colossals releases. Meanwhile, top factions like Cryx and Legion seem to be getting balanced out by having their newer releases be lower down (leaving them sticking with older models).
Huh. Six months away from Cygnar and I've forgotten how to win... until Kara Sloan goes all 'bullet to the head' several games in a row. It's good to be back.

    General thought:

Colossals is a double edged sword for Cygnar. They got some solid releases, but every time I look at Cygnar's armor cracking for enemy colossals, this feel more like a consolation prize. Many of the Staples are going to have some trouble since Gun Mages/B13th aren't exactly going to rock the socks off of a colossal and with the weak threat range most of their melee has outside of Storm Knights many of the colossals actually seem like they could bring down or severely hinder Precursor/Stormblades prior to hitting the target. Combine that with an inability to shut them down with Disruption and I wouldn't be terribly suprised to see Cygnar net gain very little when the dust settles from Colossals.

Just a thought, may prove to be way off base, but I'm not sure if the long run would favor Cygnar if every or every other list had colossals even if Cygnars had the most utility. Nemo3 also seems like a guy who isn't so much changing what the faction does as much as making a small cross section do it better. It's actually hard to come up with match-ups right off hand where he's better suited than Nemo1 or Nemo2, especially since he still has some jack buffs, but has forgotten the threat range extentsions previous Nemo's could muster. Not saying he isn't solid, but I'm not sure how much he'll affect Cygnar in the broader scheme of things. I wouldn't be suprised if eVyros being a caster that admittedly isn't as good ends up having a higher impact because he brings some new abilities and a new playstyle to the table.

*Shrugs*, time will tell, but if this is the Cygnar renaissance then use and abuse it.

Despite our good releases, the fact that most of our shenanigans to deal with jacks doesn't work on colossals is going to be a problem for us. I tend to ignore enemy jacks by disrupt/push/slam/knockdown but that isn't going to work anymore.

Who cares? We had an entire multi-page thread of QQing the Cry-x forums lead by our own 2LiveIs2Die, the leader of the "mweh Cygnar" battlecry.

If this is ALL we get outta the Colossals I think it's enough!
