    Unhappy Release Dates?

I've often wondered why PP never posts release dates in their descriptions of 'Upcoming Releases' - nor do they have an easily accessible list of product release dates for current and upcoming months.

In my mind, it is bad business practice to promote upcoming releases and not make it clear to their customers when they can expect the products to be available.

Power creep > lackluster releases. (there's always MKIII to sort it out)

Your best bet is to use the dates from the Warstore's site. That isn't full proof though either. For instance, there is still no date listed for the Colossals book and it comes out next month.

War Room is a perfect example of why not. If/when a item doesn't ship when they said, PP gets tons of dire doom postings. So best not to publish, that way PP can release when its ready.

They also know that sometimes manufacturing or shipping problems may occur that could impact a stated release date. The Cryx book was a good example of this. They tell distrubutors when to possibly expect it, but they don't give set dates because they know that there are far too many variables that can impact when something will actually arrive ina store.

Granted, distribution problems is one thing, but that just means they need to have a proper street date that will accommodate some delays. Many companies will have an estimated street date if they can't give a concrete one.

Companies that produce CCGs (like MtG) and Video games, can manage international releases on a single day. Are we to assume they never have distribution issues?

Heck, even Games Workshop has release dates on their advanced order stuff. I'd hope PP could at least manage to meet their standards...

    A week after being able to pre-order isn't a standard, it's a joke.

That estimated street date is the one that they give to the distributors and online stores like Malefic or TheWarStore that we see.

Unfortunately, PP doesn't quite have the global infrastructure that the aforementioned companies have. Sadly.

Its here when its here... Why the rush for knowing when its going to be released any ways?

Well, its a joke I'd hope PP could match then. We don't even get one week.

The real problem is that PP DOES give out release dates -- even months in advance. If you scour the internet, you can find them. They just don't post them on their own site for players to see.

For the life of me, I don't know why PP has us digging elsewhere for info that should be readily available here.

Becase there's a difference between giving distributors estimates and making a general announcement. They get beat up about stuff not being available enough as it is.

Actually, GW's policy is to pretend that nothing is coming out until the advance orders go up (generally a week before release), so no, they don't let people know anything a month or two out from release date, lol. I don't mind PP's version of previews at all, I love being able to see the models so far ahead of their actual street date, I usually just check the Warstore site if I feel like knowing an exact day that far out.
