    Default pButcher 35 point list

    Hey guys,

I've had quite a bit of success with my pButcher list at my local store, but I'd like to see what you guys think! This is a small variation on the list that I used last week:

    ~pButcher
    ~Kodiak
    ~Juggernaut

    10 WGI
    WGI officer and standard

    10 Kayazy assassins
    Kayazy assassin underboss

    Kayazy eliminators
    pEiryss
    kovnik joe

This is the first time I've included pEiryss, but I think she could be very useful to harass stuff. I really like pButcher; having fury and iron flesh make him amazing with his feat. A psedo trick that I have is to combine kayazy mini feat with butcher feat so the kayazy can charge though the enemy to the soft bits for effective MAT 9 p+s 15 (gang and fury) with 4D6 damage on the charge. That even annihilates heavy jacks.

The WGI are there for the obvious reasons.

    Anyway, any thoughts?

    Hiya Borgnine,

Your list is quite similar to mine, so I'll post mine up and explain what I've done differently. Might give you some ideas?

PButcher - had to be the same really...

War Dog - I like the idea of tanking Butcher up to DEF19 in melee. I've also tried using it for countercharge to disrupt enemy arc nodes, etc.

2 Berserkers - 3 points cheaper than your 2 jacks. Probably a lot more than 3 points worse, as Kodiak runs almost as efficiently, with far better armour, vent steam utility, pathfinder and better chain attack. But I've had some success with kamikaziing them in near to enemy casters, watching them do their stuff and then exploding in comedy technicolour.
Best success was a Berserker killing a Dire Troll in 4 attacks on Butcher feat turn before exploding to do warlock Gunnbjorn 7 damage.

    10 Winterguard + 3 rockets + officer+standard. Same as yours except with 3 3" AOEs with 14" range. Nice versatility I think.
Kovnik Joe - total no brainder choice here.

5 Man O War Bombardiers - 11 points that in the 4 games so far don't seem to have dazzled at all. Love the models, but are never star performers. Might be good vs infantry spam with 5 3" AOEs per turn, but only 10" range is a bit poor IMO. I'm hoping to get them to synergize with the Berserkers (Knock down with headbutt chain attack and then lob POW14s at now DEF5 enemy).
The Kayazy are a far killier option to be honest, but I'm awaiting a resculpt before I get a unit.

Lady Aiyana and Master Holt. Had a horrendous game vs. Cryx, with 10 Ghost Raiders, 2 pistol wraiths and 2 machine wraiths. Was not pleasant. Since then I always take these guys. Helps dakka Menoth jacks and can also pump out damage via +2 DAM buff vs. hard targets. Holt is quite killy as well.

I'm missing upkeep removal, which is where EEiryss would be great. I think that she's more versatile than PEiryss as EEiryss can remove nasty upkeeps, like Crippling Grasp, by shooting an officer in the back for one point damage.

Are Eliminators adding much versatility to the list? Still, they are pretty killy to be fair.

    Just my few cents.

Oh man, I had no idea that Kodiak had pathfinder. Thanks for the tip! lol

I definitely like the thought of the war dog, but the army just really didn't have an extra point sitting around. The dog can be a great utility for 1 point, though.

    Rocketeers would definitely be beneficial.

The only reason I'm taking pEiryss is that I don't actually have the model for eEiryss. I totally agree that getting rid of upkeeps would be a huge boon.

I wouldn't mind taking Aiyana and Holt, but I find 4 points is just such a huge investment considering what you get.

I have really liked the Eliminators. It seems like in every game they at least make back their points. They are lightning quick and the opponent has to really think twice when you think about how these two jerks can charge 10.5" through the enemy models (including melee range) and then either do a combined strike to make sure the target unit champ/solo is dead or side step the **** out of place for another 4" of movement.
All of that said, I can't be sure that they would do any better than the three rocketeers for the same cost would do.

Berzerkers can be interesting and I often use one, but I do find that they frequently let me down. I don't know if I've ever had his chain attack go off, being MAT 5 and all.

I really like the Kodiak. His MAT 6 helps with getting the chain attack off, and I find his open fists extremely useful for opening charge lanes and getting collateral damage. The running for free (and apparently pathfinder) are definitely nice bonuses. I have used his vent steam ability to great effect in previous games.

My other version of this list actually used the Devastator instead of the Kodiak (as well as a Koldun instead of Eiryss) and it worked quite well. People often start ****ting their pants when they see an ARM 25 jerk coming towards them. Not to mention his special action/attack (can't remember which one) is ridiculously good at clearing out high DEF infantry. It smashes everyone within three inches of his base as opposed to just having a 3" AOE placed on you.

I often find that with my Kayazy assassins I'll run up turn one and then simply run again on turn two to engage instead of charging. Especially if they have iron flesh, they'll be extremely hard to hit and then I just mini feat them on the next turn towards the caster or other solos. I find the Winter Guard more deserving of the iron flesh, though, since the Kayazy can still get a respectable DEF 16 vs. combat attacks without any spell buffs.

Another game with my Butcher list and another game where the Bombardiers didn't seem to do much. Was playing vs. Pigs with Arcadius. The Brigands unit was completely useless as they couldn't hit my DEF17 WG and are unable to CRA outside a Carver list. Best shot 9of the game was one WG shotgun blast wasting 4 Bone Grinders, hitting Arcadius for 7 damage and a big pig for 5 damage.

Still, they did get the kill on Arcadius by aiming lots of bombard shots at a pig and scattering onto Arcadius.

Am playing him in a tourney next week. If I do badly I'll have to try with some Kayazy. Can definitely put some in at 50 points.
