    Post Starting a Menoth army.

Hi all i am just starting out with Warmachine and i don't know much about how to build a good army or how certain players work well together.
I would appreciate any help that anyone can give me in terms of what units to get and if Kreoss will be a good warcaster or if i need a different one, and any strategy's that are good.
So far i have an army of:
    vassal of menoth
    Choir
    castigator
    Wracks
    Exemplar Cinerators
    Battlegroup Battle Box Set

Any help would be great thank you.

Hi Aligator, what you have there is a plenty good start to the Protectorate of Menoth.

Basic, common and all-round good advise is to start small: have some fun as you build things up, in this games there's no need to rush out beyond Battle Box games, spend some time and learnt he ropes - your future skill level will be all the better for it.

Kreoss is a fine Warcaster to learn with (and play in general); as you play more you might prefer to move to one that inspires/interests you more, but there's no need to do so if you're not so inclined.
Sometimes you have to make lemons out of lemonade.

Welcome to the Iron Kingdoms! Like hausdorff said, you have a great start there. I always recommend people start with a caster, some jacks/beasts, and a unit to really get a feel for the game.

From here, you can really go in whatever direction you'd like. There is a good thread on the Menoth forums with everything from building an army from the battle box, to individual model discussions. Stuff like this is always a great read for beginning players. http://privateerpressforums.com/show...f-the-True-Law

You can also just pop over to the Menoth forums with this same post and see what they think. They're a good bunch of people over there, so they should be able to get you going in the right direction. http://privateerpressforums.com/foru...noth-Community

You got a good set of models there I would not change a thing. I agree with whats been said so fare don't rush out of 15pnt games till you got the rules down and can play a game in under 30 min. There are several rules to get down and you will constantly be learning about new models as you face them as your opponents grow with time.

Cryx are tough guys. Tough guys wear pink.

I started about 3 months ago playing menoth, and I've found investing in a Max unit of Temple flameguard + the UA was a fantastic purchase. They are easy to slip into any army (4 points, 6 points, or 8 with the UA) and are great for learning the basics.

Agreed. Once you feel like expanding past battle box games, dont let your lgs rush you into 35pt ones. 25pts lets you 'taste' a good number of things on the bored, without getting overwhelmed by bth your own and your opponents abilities.
