Stage one on most gold parts. Base is palomino gold from reaper. I wash it with a mix of:
1 part brown ink from art supply store, 2 parts brown wash(reaper), 2 parts blending medium and 1 part water. Wash in on deeper areas. Works vreat on the red plates trimmed on gold. Most ofthe shield arm has a basecoat.

Looking good. Can't tell from the picture and not familiar with reaper paints, is that a metallic gold you're using, or NMM?

I like your base a lot! And it looks like a really fantastic start to the miniature.

Any insight into how you made your base? I'm just starting my Skorne army and I'd like a desert / cracked earth style base. I think I'd like to try to replicate your base and paint it in a desert brown / yellow scheme. How do you plan on painting your base?

    Thanks!

So what Gold is that? I like the muted yellow/orange tone. It's fantastic. Almost a brushed gold look. Fantastic. What is it, and what are you using to highlight it?

I use a mix of cut wine cork and rock from galeforce9. I will paint it like I did on my shaman I just finished. A realistic desert stone. For a more cracked earth i use smaller pieces and then put a layer of glue in the cracks and base in rubble flock.

I saw that too, I've never seen that before on a miniature unless it was intentional. I don't think it was in this case.

I saw that and said "Cool!" and then tried to figure out how to do it. Maybe crackle coat? I was thinking a gold base under with red over top so that the gold shows through on the cracks. Or gold with green over.

That is a sweet job you did there. I really like how you blocked it off with the colors.
