Tonyzahn joins the Extremoth owner's club (WIP pics)

This past Christmas, my awesome brother Invaderzahn build me an Extremoth of my very own.

Since I'm a very slow painter, it's still not done, but I've finally painted it enough to glue it together, so here's some WIP photos. I went away from my usual Khador scheme, and painted him more to match my Beast-09, which is one of my favorite paint jobs so far.

First off: the awesome pose

Second, a size comparison with his "little" brother

For the painting, I'd personally suggest a wash of some sort to add depth to the colors. However, it is well posed, VERY well posed, and looks fantastic. I think having it stand on that dead Cygnar 'jack only makes it look more massive.

Looks nice, mounting it on the wreck really sets off the massiveness that an Extremoth is.

Yours is a worthy addition to the club's armada of ridiculously huge warjacks.

I particularly like the pose - he looks like he has just finished pounding that poor Cygnar jack into the ground and tearing pieces off of it. In fact, I bet it would look really cool if he were holding a broken Cygnar 'jack weapon (or arm) in his upraised fist.

Like I said, it's still a pretty early work in progress on the painting side. I haven't really done any of the shading/highlighting on the upper hull, and what I have done on the legs isn't really visible in the pic because I didn't bother to set up the whole lightbox and everything.

I'm glad you all like the pose, Karl did an awesome job on it, it's definitely projecting "who's next" in the body language.

@Jack Frost - I'll have to get on that. For a club slogan, do you prefer "Big is Beautiful" or "Size Does Matter"?

Thanks for all the kind words everyone. This is by far my favorite conversion that I've done so far.

I was going for the "Who's next?" kinda pose and I'm glad that everyone thinks I pulled it off.

i really want to do this. its just hard to swallow the cost. i think its like $90 with shipping, once you get all the extra parts you need.

Update:

I've finished the white areas. Now just to do finish the reds, upper metallics, and little details.

The Pictures make it look a little flat, but the person the shading has a good bit of depth to it

One of the hands actually was pinned to the base. But yeah, mostly just Superglue and GS.

I had run put of puns and good drill bits.

By sheer coincidence, I just bought more pin vice bits this past weekend, so I think I'll be pinning during the re-assembly.

All told, the damage toll was:
Extremoth exploded
2 Uhlans (one just lost a shoulder pad, the other's proken in many places)
Kovnik Markov (fortunately not yet painted)
Master Holt (completely dis-armed)
1 Legion Raptor (dismounted rider)
Bokur lost his shield

Once the little monsters are in bed I'm going to put on a movie, grab a beer, and spend the night re-building. Urgh.

This is why I have been building my new models with JB Kwik Weld and pins. My 5 year old daughter loves small colorful models. I've seen my Skaven Vermin Lord (GW model) playing with ponies before

Hvae to agree with this, I hink a good wash with GW sepia would do wonders for that light cream color

as it is now the paint is VERY clean, very nice work

It Lives!!

Repairs finished, and I've finished painting it. There's probably a lot of small improvements I could still make, but it's reached the point where I'm happy with it and ready to move on to other things.

I can't seem to get a photo of it that doesn't make the shading look a lit flatter than they do IRL. I think it may be time to upgrade to a better lighting setup.

yeah I know all about crazy kids. The neighbors brought me home at 6am when I was three. Mom says I could climb on top of the fridge at the same age. They had to nail down windows and put locks at the top of doors to be effective.

Ahhhh you say no problem. That was a long time ago you wont have kids like that. Except that my mother cursed me to have children just like me. I can still hear her voice...see the fire in her eyes & feel the lights from thos same eyes burning a hole in my stomach as she screamed "KIDS JUST LIKE YOU!!!!"..... and I will be the stay at home Dad. Mr mom reaping what I have sown. When my mom finds out we are having kids she will laugh and laugh. Then congrats will come.
