Default Plastic WIP reverse studio scheme

SO whatcha all think? Should I keep running with this scheme or start from scratch. The rest of my khador (like you've seen so far) have been pretty much standard studio scheme, but I wanted to try something new, basically due to Canucklhead's comment on my xtrm juggy (thanks Canucklhead, you pushed me in the right direction). Comments, suggestions, opinions are all welcome. Here ya go!

BTW, I'm not bothering to set up the lights I have just for a WIP so please forgive the crappy lighting, and keep in mind it's not finished so the shine on the red will be gone when all is done.

I think you could do some really interesting freehand work on that large black canvas. I did a Crimson and brass camo on a similar schemed Khador jack for a friend.

It looks good but unfinished to me.

Right now it just looks like you primed it black and painted only certain key areas. It doesn't look like a finished model at all - but I will say that simply going in and painting the rivets with your choice of metallic would go a LONG way toward that end.

I'd actually suggest highlighting th black some... try adding some grays. You can do half shades by mixing black with grey to get something lighter than the black but not so stark as a light grey.

You can drybrush (oh no, he said dry brush!) the black with some sort of silver metallic. It will look like the paint is peeling off the edges.

One of the funny parts to me is reading back-to-back reports on a given model about how broken it is and then about how it's not worth anywhere near its cost.

this is a WIP, it's totally far from finished. This is just the base colors and where they're going. The metallics on the cannon and axe aren't done yet, the black is nowhere NEAR done, the reds still need some highlights and to be cleaned up as well (if you see under the model, where the ball joints connect, the line still has red in it and that needs to be black). There's a LOT of work left on this one. I was just trying to see if everyone on here thought this scheme was a good idea, and it seems pretty unanimous.

As far as freehand goes, I'm still up in the air on that what. What sort of icons are commonly used in the Khadoran army? Ideas would be helpful! Thanks again everyone!

I like it. Good luck on the highlighting, personally I find highlighting black to be a real pain, it rarely comes out the way I want it to.

I love the base too, clear resin is worth +5 cool points in my book.

The model looks great. I would go in and paint the smokestacks holes black to give them a little contrast.

I say it looks awesome. Aside from the obvious finishing (like you said, it's not done yet) of bits like the bolts/rivets, etc, I think you should add something to the Cortex hood.

It would balance out the model perfectly. I would say either paint it red, or do a green-stuff stamp of a Khador symbol and stick it up there.

Good call, I think that'll give it what it needs and then I'll do that red as well, but add additional highlights to it to make it stand out. Thanks!!!

    Default Finished finally!!!!

I hate to say it, but I really wasn't feeling it with this one. I got bored towards the end, and all I can say is I'm looking SOOO forward to starting my Cygnar plastics, but I still have two more of these, and the Extreme as well, so here's my finished product, hope you all like!
