Taking a Journey(man) with the trollkin

Hey guys R3D here.
So with the first week of a Journeyman league over I figured it'd be best to log my progress.
As you can obviously tell from the title my faction of choice was the Trollbloods and the first 2 weeks of the league starts us out at 15pts. I started out by buying the faction starter kit and adding to it from there. I knew from the start that the Warlock I wanted to use was Borka and luckily my Pressganger had one he was willing to part with. After I got Borka I started figuring out what I could actually fit in my 15pts to start with and ended up going with the following:

Borka Kegslayer
Dire Troll Mauler
Troll Impaler
Troll Axer

My main aim for this league is to win through hobby points as I'm not a very adept gamer; my current motto for the league is this:
"I may lose every game going, but my faction's gonna look damn good doing it!"
Which for the most part people have found rather funny.

Love that shading on the axer's cloak. I really find myself conflicted sometimes when I paint because I love that cartoony/cel shaded style like you have here, but I also like the super realistic figures too. I've settled somewhere in the middle I think. Ghool's stuff specifically is like a mix of ultra realistic and some more cel-shaded styles.

But what you've got going here, you should definitely be a contender to win on hobby points alone.

Thanks again for the kind words, today tomorrow is pretty much crunch time as i still have to finish the skin on my second impaler and complete madrak and janissa by sunday afternoon for another 9 hobby points

I'm really liking these guys. I can see the inspiration

The contrasts between the bases and the skin is great and must really pop on the table top. I also love the additions of the reds against the pale skin.

The only thing I'd say you might want to try is to dilute your last highlight a bit for the skin and do it in 2 or 3 coats. It will give you a much smoother finish.

I just recently finished a journeyman league, and I said the same things for much the same reasons. All I wanted was the hobby patch. I ended up winning the game point and the overall winner patches, and came in second for the hobby points. Another guy had been collecting legion for like a year and just started pumping out quantity.

I like yer trolls a lot, good choice of a scheme. Now go kick everyones ***

Thanks guys, well i just bought a fell caller and a bridge troll which i'm converting into a pyre troll as the pyre is just too small for my liking, as for points i'm currently sitting at 31 league points and 22 hobby, by the time we get to the 50pt games i'm hoping to be sitting at the 50pts in hobby mark

Sooooo, I guess my lack of updates for the duration of the league means i've got some explaining to do as this sunday is the last sunday of the league.
Well first off, i have my entire 50pt list fully painted and will be putting pictures up this sunday, i'm in second place for all medals although as stated before i'm only interested in the hobby medal, So i've been painting around the clock and painted more than what was required to gain extra hobby points.
Between getting things painted for the league and family i've had very little time for photo's and forums.
But some good news is i plan on carrying this thread on after the league as i've fallen in love with this army so much that unless they release a model thats practically the god incarnate for another faction i'm sticking with these guys and i plan on adding Some SERIOUS conversion in. on of which you should see one part appearing at my door sometime soon (i hope) the two major conversions i plan to have are a converted eMadrak as his current pose Sucks carnivrean dung heaps and my own Mulg to DTM conversion i also plan on experimenting with different colored stones to show that the trolls grew up in different areas etc etc.
So lets start with the eMadrak conversion, i decided that i wanted my eMadrak to look more like the artwork for his pose and started looking for models that could be my starting point, thats when i found the Runeshapers Leader body

By using this and parts from different trollkin models i'm convinced i can make a conversion worthy of eMadrak.
