Default Can I make the Galleon work at 35 points? (new to Mercs)

After seeing the crazy amount of Mercenary models that I ended up having in my household I decided that it's only logical to take the plunge and start playing Mercs as a second faction.

I have full units of Nyss, Forgeguard, Boomhowler, Sea Dogs x2 and tons of solos already. (Planning to get Kayazy soon.)

Also, I love the looks of the Galleon.

Can you recommend me 2 casters to start with that go well together in a 2 list Steamroller event?
Tourneys are usually at the 35-42 point level around here. Do you think the Galleon can work well at 35 points?

To get you started now? With that? Ashlynn is one right off the bat....tempted to suggest Damiano. If your going to get Kayazy then Drake MacBain or Fiona wouldn't be a bad idea.

Get Bart when you get Galleon.

Oh yeah, I forgot that I also have Gun Mages + UA, Rangers and 20 Long Gunners and Sword Knights from Cygnar side.

But what I'd really like is starting to collect the models that would go well in a 35 pt list with the Galleon.
I can see how Bart would be a great caster with him.
Who would be a good caster to team up in a 2 list format with Bart?

Can you see a reasonable pair of lists where both casters use the Galleon?

I don't own any Merc casters or jacks yet, so I'm very open to suggestions.
I don't mind buying more Merc models in general, because I can use them with other factions, which is great. (Currently working on my pirate Harbinger lineup...)

pMagnus and Drake look like good options with the Galleon.

Magnus with access to Snipe, Iron Aggression,Temper Metal and Renegades.

Drake can get the ideal with shooting deckguns, drag in with the harpoon and melee and then buy extras with JackHammer.

Shae also looks good to with Sea Dogs in your face early on and then follow that up with Galleon.
Working on being able to field every merc teir 4 list.

eMags is also nice because he can bond Galleon and load him up on 4 focus. There's also that crazy chance to get a backstab with a bonded Galleon, or dragging something into Galleon to give eMags an AP backstab charge.

I have played a handful of 35pt games with pMagnus and Galleon and I am very pleased with the results. So very doable there!

Bart should be able to pull off a 35pt game, but i haven't test him yet.

I would absolutely love to do a 35pt Bart list with 2 Galleon, Wish-nailer and Ragman. That would be absolutely sick.

I'm in the same boat. Looked at what I had, realized I could do Mercs easily, fell in love with Galleon. I'm actually starting with Dwarves for now, simply because I think they look more fun with what I currently have, but I've been researching what I need to move into things that run the big guy.

Caster wise, pMagnus, MacBain, and Bart seem to be the primary candidates. They each have outstanding tricks with him I want to try. In particularly, I'm going to run this list at some point, just because it looks kind of hilarious and fun:

    Bart
    - Galleon
    - Wyshnalyr
    Wrongeye
    - Snapjaw
    - Bull Snapper
    Dirty Meg
    Thor Steinhammer
    Ragman
    Dougal

Assuming you want to get started with mercs right now, I'd probably consider picking up a Mule, Rocinante and Ashlynn given what you said you already have. Damiano is also a solid purchase as is pMagnus, though the latter wants his Renegades. This is the route I'd go at least, but coming from Khador I don't have the Forgeguard/Gun Mage packages to run Highborn out of the gate.

Oh that list of Cygnar stuff?
E Magnus Bad Seeds and Ashlynn. Done. Just get the Warcasters and jacks and you have two really scary tourny lists you can build with what you have.

Expanding to "Magnus in 4star" is going to be awkward for you so I'd suggest MacBain first. Then you should be invested enough to help yourself.

    As for jacks....
    x1-2 Buccaneers
Couple of plastic Omnijacks or so

Issue with Galleon is generally if your going to run a Galleon you will not be running much of a Battlegroup.

Personally I don't think MacBain really cares to run a Galleon. Him and Damiano are IMO really strong at killing Collosals and would rather have double heavies and maybe some lights.

So IMO Galleon runs best with Bart, PMagnus, EMagnus, Fiona/Shae, and then the rest of the human mercs. In that order.

I can understand you thinking that about Damiano, Ger - he's not really starving for Galleon. About your opinion of Drake + Galleon though (and please understand I say this with a lot of good humor and camaraderie as a fellow merc player) ...you sir are smoking crack! At the 50 pt level, Drake is definitely one of our first choices to command Galleon (after the obvious Broadsides Bart of course). About half his spell list is just perfect for the guy! True Energizer doesn't work but no great loss IMO. Most of the time i use that spell to move Drake himself anyhow for a late-game assassination run. Fortune, Failsafe and Jackhammer are all going to be completely boss with Galleon.

When I saw Galleon the first thing that popped into my head is Galleon + Bart + WE/SJ + Sylys (free Hotshot upkeep), and probably A&H just for Magical Weapon. Leaves you 9 points to tinker with, either to add some solos (e.g. Dirty Meg/Thor) or to add a unit to give yourself some bodycount. I'm not a big fan of small armies, but in this case at least you are bringing an impressive amount of firepower to the table.

I like the idea of Bart and MacBain. I'm a Magnus loyalist, and I think he can work wonders with the Galleon, but you have a lot of Highborn stuff, and he won't work for that contract. Bart is a no-brainer with the Galleon, and MacBain is an amazingly versatile caster that can use the Galleon in a dizzying array of ways (anyone else thinking of that giant base with Countermeasure on it? Yikes!). Plus, both of those casters will work for either Highborn or 4-Star, so you can maximize your options for later Merc-xpansion.
