only similarity is the rock...
Least the Arch Angel is the better looking of the twins, granted both are pretty much in the cliche dragon pose but that's about where the similarity ends.
They are both dragons wrapped around a big rock, beyond that I'm not really seeing it.
Also, this is my first time seeing the Archangel picture, and mother of god it is huge... How in the world are you supposed to transport that?!?

Privateer hasn't given a thought to transporting their models since day one. IFP, man. IFP.
I think you're supposed to magnetize the wings for removal. Otherwise, you're just supposed to play it at your own house. No way that baby is going anywhere with those wings glued on.![]()

That's one ugly twin.
"If at first you don't succeed, label it version 1.0."
Yeah, there are only so many ways to give a ginormous dragon a (relatively) small footprint. Since I imagine nobody wants one curled up sleeping or sitting on its haunches, we get "curled around something tall."
"Shhh. Before you talk with the Chief, you must party with the Chief."
If they're nice, the wings will slot into the torso with a pressure fit much like many of their plastic models. Add some magnets and they should be removeable yet still stay put.

I bet its going to be the biggest of the Gargantuans and Colossals, with the least boxes.
Talked to the sculptor @ L&L, and they are making the wings removable. Magnets will help, but are not necessary as there is a deep pin.
Man, is PP awesome![]()

Why couldn't they have done that for Terminus?! But nah, Archangel sans the rock is pretty small compared to the others, I'd reckon half the mass of a colossal. So you know like 43 HP![]()
It does look kinda familiar...
But yeah, this has been one of the default dragon poses since there have been dragons to pose.
Cygnar 164 Mercs 83 Khador 91 Blindwater 52 Cryx ???
Cygnar is 5 infantry, 1 warcaster and 2 warjacks from fully painted.
Sean (I think that is right) showed me that the Archangel wings are removable even at this stage of the sculpture.
Most people say that what some people say is pretty stupid.
Painted/Total points (5 points per caster per Steamroller) Cygnar 872
When I was talking to the sculptor at Lock and Load he told me this is actually the second iteration and that they had to scale him down.
Originally the rock he was perched on filled the entirety of the 120mm base, now it takes up approximately an 80mm circle. If he was sculpted at the original scale the wing tips would easily have been over a foot and half tall and about a foot wide.

That would have been awesome. Damn you PP for reasonably limiting your vision!

Damn you for not having the guts to release a $200 model!![]()

I thought it was already released, but I realized I was walking past a nic-nack store in the mall. It looks awesome but I cant help thinking about the Franklin mint catalouge when I look at it.
I really like that they are building it to be modular. Like Dino said, they haven't given much consideration to this in the past and it can get really frustrating. Making the wings detachable without modification is just really really smart.
So how long will it be before someone, not paying close attention, leans over the table to gauge whatever, and loses an eye to this model?
Doesn't the archangel have two sets of wings?
Cheers

I've had it with these mother $@^*@$ing dragons wrapping around on these mother %&)&%ing rocks

nom nom nom
Cygnar w/ Mercs (14 Warcasters, 372 Points)
Trollbloods and Minions (2 Warlocks, 45 Points)
Retribution of Scyrah (1 Warcaster, 35pts)
Legion of Everblight (1 Warlock, 15 Points)
It's just a very thematic and classic dragon pose, and (as mentioned) is about the only way to make a dragon fit on a base without too much overhang, and not look too weird.
If you just do a Google Image Search for "Dragon on rock" you get a few dozen similar pictures and quite a few similar models.

Yeah there isn't anything new or creative about the archangel's pose, but it's not like any of the example posted here came up with it either.

Some companies tried the no rock Dragons.

No rock, but such a pain to stand up... I'm glad of the Rock idea.
That is a sweet, sweet base...(post #9)

I think a life sized fold out poster of the archangel will be the easiest mode of transportation. Use a system of chop sticks for structure...
Very cool, but nothing like I expected. With the maws on the throne, I expected something more like the Gaping Dragon from Dark Souls.

Wow, that is pretty scary. Gotta check that out sometime.
Is that sculpted at the casting scale? When I first saw pics it almost looked like a 3-up. Awesome either way.
