Actually, and this may sound a bit strange but I tried Murdoch with Trencher Commandos to give them a tasy assault ability. And before you hammer me on that, he counts as a trencher model so there is nothing specifically saying he's prohibited from doing so. I've used him three times in this fashion already.

Careful, you already got a dedicated group of Trencher haters among the Cygnar community. Tread lightly with this one friend.

I completely agree with you, however. New weapons crew, attachments or an entirely new unit would be an immediate addition to my collection.

Also a tank-like battle engine for the Trenchers would be uber awesome. "Who needs a storm strider? We got a tank!" (literally) Even Nemo will say "why didn't I think of that?"

You cannot use Murdoch as a Trencher Commando unit attachment. He specifically works with Mercenary models only, as he is a Ranking Officer model whose type is meant specifically to be attached to Mercenary small/medium-based units.

Which doesn't count for what you want it to, I'm sory to say. I'm not sure if the Menites care, but I do know the Khador players would love to be able to attach their ranking officer to in-faction units and Murdoch is more interesting for his abilities than Valachev. Khador has more faction-only stuff, so I suppose that evens it out. As far as I can tell, unfortunately, being a trencher only matters for Murdoch in relation to a Grenadier or Finn.

Read Murdock's card. First thing in there: "Attachment: [small or medium based Mercenary Infantry unit]".

personally,I think there are a lot more opportunites for trencher themed models, bigger and better artillery(mortars and actual artillery pieces),possibly cav,a heavy warjack similar to the grenadier etc.................

I still dont get why peopple hate trenchers!!!

Personally I'd love a trencher themed force but I just cant justify the cost for a few units that I probably wouldnt use in normal lists cos I like to ride the lightning. But if they came up with a few trencher support peices trenchers would be at the top of my to buy list.

    cheers

True that it is but reading my post carefully it is entirely experimental.

Yes I know that. But it was fun to see Commandos Assaulting either way. Experiment with different faction models, you might find it chaotic and ludicrously overpowered. Just for experimental purposes, never would attempt this in a normal game mind you.

Experiment away I say, but try to avoid possible confusion: there absolutely is something specifically saying he's prohibited from doing so.

This, my friends, is what Trenchers need...

I hope PP will never bring tanks into this game it would destroy it... The game is based op Jack and the magical ability to use them. If you'd bring tanks into this game then it would be steampunk 40k and I would end the use of Jacks and the warcaster's abilitys to use the jacks would fade away. Ofc the battle engines could be seen as "tanks" but they are still in theme as in the fact that you won't use them as transports and you would never field to many to get a tank battle.

As for the Trenchers I like them. I would maybe change one thing : 6 man units = 5points and 10 man units 8points. That would open the lane to get more grenadeers or and offi an sniper. As for the range of the trenchers don't change annything! first of all if you want long range infantery get long gunners. and secondly there are caster who can easyly buff the trenchers for more range. With combined attacks you can make Trenchers hit hard! and on top of that they have assault whitch allows them to take out lightly armored units easely. Don't forget the grenadiers ofc 3 aoe3 schots are badass everyturn. If you want trenchers in you army I would go full out on them. That seems to work with mee most of the time.

Uh, if you want long-range infantry you take Nyss and ATGMs. If you have a very specific need for volume of shots at medium range and can provide the tools - denial eg Haleys, Snipe from two casters - you take the Long Gunners.

    Damn, beaten to the punch.

The above is my personal opinion, and in no way should be taken as representative of the overall Skorne community. Even when I claim otherwise.
Skorne on date ... when did Primal Mk I hit again?

    We need monkey trenchers.
Huh. Six months away from Cygnar and I've forgotten how to win... until Kara Sloan goes all 'bullet to the head' several games in a row. It's good to be back.
