    Default Engaged Colossals and Shooting

Now that they are hitting the table there is some debate as to how this works so I want to squash it here.

    1. An engaged C can make Ranged Attacks OR Melee Attacks, not both.
    2. An engaged C making Ranged attacks may only target engaged models (until it is no longer engaged)

I guess that is the where all the disagreement goes on. Are these 2 points correct?

1 is correct. 2 is not. Colossals do not have gunfighter. You cannot run a 2 pt solo into a colossal and tie it up.

As Ed above mentioned, 2 is incorrect. Colossals may make ranged attacks while in melee, at any target. They do not, however, suffer the firing into melee penalty against models with which they are engaged, per Colossals p. 22 (also available in No Quarter 43). They also cannot gain the aiming bonus while engaged.

They do not have a rule that allows them to shoot out when they are engaged. They rules say

    1. Make ranged attacks while in Melee
    2. No penelty for shooting engaged models
    3. No aim while engaged

There is nothing PERMITTING them to ignore the rule that you cannot shoot an unengaged model while you are engaged.

The rules say they may make ranged attacks while in melee. They do not place any restrictions on those ranged attacks with respect to what can be targeted, thus the normal targeting rules for ranged attacks apply.

Also, there is no such rule "cannot shoot an unengaged model while you are engaged."

Even when engaged colossals can make ranged attack against any model in it's LOS and range.
    Basically it's 3 possible situations:
    a. Engaged colossal makes ranged attack against model out of melee - no penalty.
    b. Engaged colossal makes ranged attack against model in melee with said colossal - no penalty.
    c. Engaged colossal makes ranged attack against model in different melee - he receives target in melee penalty.
