    Default pMadrk vs Kaelyssa 35pts

    My list:

    pMadrak w/Mauler, Axer, and Runebearer
Max Champions, Max Kriel Warriors, Min Krielstone
    Champion Hero, Stone Scribe Chronicler

    His list:

    Kaelyssa, Griffon, Phoenix
Max Dawnguard Sentinals w/ Officer & Standard
    Dahlia & Scarath
    Eiryss, 2 Ghost Snipers, Arcanist

Terrain was a pair of hills on each side of the battlefield toward the edges (east and west), and a pair of forests just outside the DZs down the midline (north and south).

The elves spread themselves out along their DZ, and I bricked up my trolls opposite the enemy infantry. First turn the Elves advanced - infantry straight towards me, snipers picking their way through the woods, and Kaelyssa leading her myrmidons down the middle towards me. I advanced the brick straight towards the Sentinels and kept most models under the dual defensive auras.

DEF 16 was too high for the elves to test, so they ended up pouring attacks into the Champions instead of the Kriel Warriors that were closer. One champ lost, and when the Sentinels charged the line of Kriel Warriors I lost a few warriors. Kaelyssa took a long shot at Madrak and plinked him for a few wounds. All in all, not too rough of a first attack for the Trollbloods to have to weather. Kaelyssa had feated, which limited my counter-charging options. Fortunately, two Sentinels were outside the area of the feat. So, Madrak advances, casts Crusher, Feats, and tosses his axe at a pair of Sentinels to get the bloodbath started. Next the Mauler charges and Crushers his way though the entire unit of Sentinels - Officer and Standard included! Unfortunately my Kriel Warriors failed to do too much to the Griffon even though they CMA'd for MAT 12, P+S 18. As I couldn't charge, I decided to hold my Champions back and not just feed them to the Phoenix. Buffs stay on and the army is even more clustered now, so most of the Trolls are under the defensive auras.

Kaelyssa's feeling a little panicked now that her infantry is all gobbled up and stuffed into the gut of a Dire Troll. She orders her snipers to lay fire into the champions in an attempt to bring them down, and only succeed in knocking one down. The Griffon takes a swat at a Warrior, and Skarath lines up an epic Spray attack that does some damage to Madrak. The Phoenix launches an attack at Madrak for a little more damage, and then Kaelyssa fires at him repeatedly, bringing Madrak to dangerously low health. Curse her ability to steal focus!! In retaliation, Madrak orders the Trollbloods to go for the kill. He fuels up the Mauler with Rage and casts Carnage, kills a Sniper with his thrown axe, attempts a Snap Fire against Kaelyssa but misses. The Mauler walks up to Skarath, grabs it, and throws it at Kaelyssa. That knocks her down and half way kills her! Yeah! Now I've got to seal the deal. Unfortunately my best bet is the Champion unit and the Champion Hero - but the Champions need to run a gauntlet and take free strikes from both the Phoenix and the Griffon. My other option is to engage the Phoenix with the Axer, put Charge of the Trolls on the Champions, and try to slag the Phoenix, and rely on the Champion hero alone to finish off Kaelyssa. I'm nervous that the Champ Hero won't have the distance to make the charge without Rush, and due to line of sight issues I can either engage the Phoenix with the Axer OR give it to the Hero after the unit of Champions activate. I decide to take the chance and send my Champions to their doom in an attempt to get to Kaelyssa. Bummer. Next the Champ hero charges with Rush - doesn't need Rush after all, NUTS!! Champion Hero has MAT 10 and Kaelyssa is knocked down, so that's overkill. He takes her to a single hitpoint, and I'm out of activations, so I hand it back to my opponent.

My opponent has to spend alot of his dwindled resources to take out the Champion Hero. Once he's done, Kaelyssa activates and takes her shots on Madrak. The Scroll saves him from one of those shots, and he manages to survive with 3 hitpoints. He's got a Sniper in position to finish off Madrak next turn, so I've got to finish things here and now. Madrak casts Carnage and Rage goes to the Mauler. Mauler activates again, picks up Skarath again and beats Kaelyssa with her for the kill and the win.

    Hightlights of the game:
==Mauler Crushering through the entire unit of Dawnguard Sentinels. Awesome!!
==Mauler whipping Kaelyssa in the face with Skarath - twice!
==Buffs making my Kriel Warriors DEF 16vs range and ARM 17! Woot! Believe it or not I've been playing Trollbloods for over 5 years ago and this is the first time I've played a true Brick list. Needless to say I was impressed!
