Default Hordes player switching to Ret.

Hey Retribution, I'm a Hordes player, and I though I would expand out to a new army. A lot of people seemed to complain that Ret was like 'herding cats', so I thought I'd give it a shot. Something of a 'challenge accepted' moment. That, and I like the fluff. So, After reading the abilities of everyone, this is the list I came up with for a 50 point list, using a lot of the 'I hit you and you move' shenanigans.

    Rahn
    Battle Mages
    Soulless Escort
    Arcanist
    House Shyeel Magister x2
    Mage Hunter Assassin x2
    Dawnguard Destor Thane x2
    Phoenix
    Griffon
    Chimera
    Sphinx
    House Shyeel Artificer x2

    Any advice or tips? Thanks!

One of Rahn's big problems is the inability to do much damage with Battlemages after the feat turn. That is also *a lot* of jacks to run off of one caster. I would consider paring down your jack choices a little and look at adding in a unit of Dawnguard Sentinels. The battlemages (or with Telekinesis via arc nodes, Rahn) can move large targets like jacks/beasts into good position for the Sentinels to charge. Also with all the knock down that you can get with Rahn, looking at stormfall archers is also something to consider at 50 points.

In addition to what was said above:

I'd drop the Griffon, Chimera, and Sphinx and add a second heavy (Phoenix or Banshee are probably best here). Artificers are a little lackluster and are more of a support piece. Part of their supporting role is to provide blast protection to our squishy infantry, but all of your infantry is already blast immune. It's one of those bits of Retribution irony that Shyeel units/solos don't really synergize with Rahn outside of the feat turn, and you'll probably only ever want a unit of Battle Mages (or two units at 50 points) and a magister for the feat.

Destor Thanes are generally a nice infantry clearer and two of them can give big units headaches... but be aware of the limitations of the *Multi-Fire action. You should definitely get a second arcanist into the list if you're running two+ heavies, I'd consider that a major priority. Finally, you're lacking a good way to deal with heavy armor. Against Warmachine you have the option of slamming/knocking heavies down and then parking eEyriss next to them or shooting them. You have the option against Hordes of pulling/throwing/slamming heavy beasts outside of their warlock's control area. I'd still recommend adding in something with a big punch (the MHAs can put big damage into a knocked down heavy, so long as the armor is >19, otherwise it's a big gamble). The Fane Knight Skyreth Issyen would be a great addition to the list as another heavy hitting option and Rahn compliments him very well.
