Oh man, Carnage + Blood Boon is just as good. Mat 8 is baller. I played a game against Ret with him, and Carnage was the game winner, with Ashen Veil coming up close behind. Gaspy charged and killed Narn with Carnage up, then Blood Boons a Bone Shaker into an Invictor, who stabs his friend in the back. It's sooooo much fun.

The problem I find with Mage Blight is that it leaves you without a lot of focus to camp, and unable to cast another spell. It basically says, okay, let's have a stand up fight with no advantages...and Cryx doesn't really brawl all that well. I dearly, dearly miss The Claiming.

That is a problem, though, but if you can get pShade in there, pop his feat and then cast Mage Blight while at a semi-safe distance (you need to keep them in your control area), Mage Blight kicks your opponent in the balls. What's that? No feat, you say? I'll just stand in the corner and take my beating, then.

If you cast mage blight, you will likely die.
Being safe, while being in 13.9" from the enemy caster is a recipe for unundeath.

Mage blight is only good when you are way ahead and is the salt in the would, rather than true denial, mainly due to the lack of shadowmancer and being a medium base.

At Lear that is my experience and of the games I have watched. I would call mageblight a trap spell.

I've had Mageblight work for me a few times, but I agree that it tends to be a trap to cast it. That said, it was glorious playing it against Carver in a mangled metal + a solo tourney. What? You didn't bring gunboars? Let me walk right up here and cast Mageblight, no feating for you! He backed up then and feated, but couldn't get them to Goreshade. Even if he could get them to Goreshade, if you block off the area directly between you, it makes it so that he'll have to go to the side and can't force his beasts . Anyways, Mageblight worked well in one specific situation.

Exactly, it works when you are already ahead, which includes matchup-lolz

So played 2 games with pShade last night (also noticed how pathetic he and deathwalker looked......my first miniatures i ever painted......so yeah terribad, so bought a new blister whilst i was at the games store) Tagging along with him was the kraken and Deathjack. In both games i popped my feat and used banes to either block charge lanes to me, or to open charge lanes for deathjack. My favorite was one turn, deathjack converted 4 souls to focus, and the kraken burned 3 corpes, so my 3 model battlegroup was using 16 focus......a fully loaded kraken and overloaded deathjack and i dropped mageblight so eSevvy couldn't retaliate (if he survived) after DJ charged him.......he obviously did not. My favorite part of this combo, is i kept DJ up in front of the kraken, and it forced my oponent to either focus ranged against the non-stealthed kraken, or charge into deathjack, and face kraken retaliation next turn. Shadowmancer works great for mindf***ing people.
