Default collosal guns and field of fire

I dont have the NQ with the collosal rules, but i do have 2 of the cygnar storm walls. We played longest night last night, and i was trying my best to use the covering fire to pop the thralls as soon as they left the tents. The metal storms entry under covering fire says that it can place the aoe anywhere in the models line of site and range of the weapon. But i was told that i can only place it in the corresponding field of fire 90 degree arc for each side. Which to me sounds a little contradictory.

So can someone please outline all the shooting restrictions, so i know what guns can shoot at what. I was initially under the impression the two fields of fire only limited what models the fists could hit, and what grid took the damage from enemy models, but clearly i was mistaken.

So either A; both the range 14 pow 15 gun and the metal storm on the left side can only shoot what is in the left 90 arc. and the same goes for the right side.
B; All Guns arent actually restricted by field of fire, just the melee weapons.
C; Big gun and metal storm making d3 shots are restricted to field of fire, but covering fire shots are not restricted to field of fire.

Needless to say they werent as effective as id hoped cause trying to get the collosal lined up to get the covering fire shots to control the thralls and yet still be able to fire the pow 15 at my opponents models was rather difficult.

Long discussion about the exact same subject. No consensus however so lets hope someone wise can help us out.

im wondering why the infernals havent made a ruling or alteast stated that they are looking into the matter, since its seems to be a rather hot and debated topic?

They are probably waiting for developer feedback so they get it right the first time. If you take a look through the first few pages right now you'll see lots of colossal questions with only a few answers from purple names.

There would be a few reasons for your condition:
    1. The Infernals are volunteers. Don't poke the volunteers, it makes them unhappy.
    2. You've managed to miss or dismiss the various colossal related threads that have already been marked.
    3. "Available for sale at a convention" is not the same as "Officially released", and the book isn't due out until July.

I was informed that infernals can not/ do not make rulings until the models are released (ie when the book hits the stores) and even then they submit the questions to the designer for clarification and only after they see the new or clarified ruling will they post it on a thread like this.

My suggestion right now is (if you have a local store or place you play) put the question to your peers you play with or your PG and decide on the ruling that makes the most sence. Play with that rule until PP comes out with the correct answer.

Most rules PP makes are simple common sence rules that get blowen out of context by players who want it to work or not work in their favor, just so they get what they want. When all else fails, page 5 and get a 3rd party to vote on it.

except that as an early release model the stormwall is for sale to the general public (there were multiple at the LGS this week) so questions relating to atleast the stormwall and interactions with them in general has become somewhat important.

For what it's worth, I vote C. Guns are definitely restricted by Field of Fire to make attacks, but Covering Fire is not an attack and doesn't mention Field of Fire at all, just LoS and range.

They have the same field of fire as the battle engines as far as i know.
Just look at the RHQ tv clip on youtube about the colosals and you can see. He talks about the rules and you can clearly se the same type of image as for battle engines describing field of fire.
There should be something like a cool picture here or a quote about something funny that has been said, but I am lazy -Pixl
