Default Question from a newbie about Man-O-War Drakhun Dragoon.

    Hi all,

I am new to this game. So far, I have played about 10 games and this is my first miniature game.

My wife bought me, for father day, the Man-O-War Drakhun Dragoon. When I look at is stats, there is something I dont understand.

All his stats are higher when he is mounted that when he's not. When you want to have to option to have him dismounted, you need to pay a extra point (if I am not mistaken).

Since all his stats are higher and he cost less mounted, what is the advantage to have him dismounted on the battlefield?

    thanks

So he's better on the horse. If you pay the extra point, after the horse dies you still have a model. The model that remains is still an amazing deal for one point. If you don't pay the extra point, when the horse dies you got nothing. Having that extra model means either a second chance at killing something or a likelihood that your opponent is sending a disproportionate amount of points after your drakhun to make sure it stays dead. Both of these benefit me beyond what I'd expect for one point.

You're not buying his dismounted version, you're buying the ability to dismount. So when you kill a 4 point Drakhun, he dies. When you kill a 5 point Drakhun, the horse dies, he becomes dismounted and continues fighting on foot according to his dismount rule. Hope that helps!

you're misreading it. the version that costs less is the mounted version. A Man O War on a horse. Kill him, and he's gone. the more expensive version (ie the one with dismount) is also a Man O War on a horse. the difference with the latter compared to the former is that when you "kill" him, he's not dead. all you've done is kill the horse. the mounted model is then replaced with the on-foot model. what it means is that, effectively, you must kill him twice. and for the measly cost of 1pt? score!

Thanks a lot for the clarification. That make a lot more sense.

    I appreciate the help.
