Somewhat unconventional PThag 35pt List
It seems that the conventional wisdom(at least as far as i can tell) for pThag is to skip out on our ranged warrior units, at least in part due to Fog of War's indiscriminate effects. I thought I'd break the mold, so to speak, and try running him w/ striders or raptors. I'm leaning toward striders w/ their UA(tactics:hunter) so that they arent as crippled by FoW. The list I came up with for 35 pts:
PThag +5
2x Scythean -18
Typhon -12
Shepard -1
Striders -6
w/ UA -3
My goal w/ this list is attrition w/ large threat ranges. Ideally, thags would upkeep FoW and draconic blessing, cycling DB between typhon and a scythean, with the second scythean babysitting thags/waiting in reserve.
Any thoughts/criticisms/suggestions would be appreciated

Wouldn't Typhon be better as a Carnivean and another Shepherd?

I'd considered that, but the Excessive Healing + thag affinity healing both for 3 when forced seemed like it would make typhon a better choice for the front line of an attrition army. Furthermore, I just plain like typhon better than carnivean, and I only have 2 plastivean kits and would prefer not to proxy if at all possible.

Warrior
I run a very similar list with pThags:
pThagrosh
-Scythean
-Carnivean
-Ravagore
Striders w/UA
Shepherd
I would agree that the Carnivean is sorta key, if only for his animus. With attuned spirit thagrosh can spam Spiny Growth and if he bricks up his beasts his Death Shroud ability gets them up to an effective armor 22 in melee. The striders are great for exactly the reason you mentioned; move 7, shoot 12, reform 3 means they almost never get touched.

Well, as I said, I only have 2 of the plastivean heavies and would prefer not to proxy or buy more models for the immediate future. With the beasts I have (see below), what would you suggest I use to for beasts?
2 carny/scyth/ravagore/proteus
2 angelius
1 seraph
1 typhon
1 raek
2-4 of each ankle biter
