    Default WIP Adeptis Rahn

So here is my current project looking for a little feedback. I am only about 25% done with him. this was a camera test more then anything. I am fairly new to basing what would offset him well as a stone color may be to close to my palet on him. (dont want the bast to take away from the figure) I will keep updating this as time goes on.

Comments and Criticism welcome also this is the first Mini that I have ever posted shots of

Brace for some possibly over-detailed rambling...

Your camera is taking the pics too dark obviously. More light on the mini might help, but you certainly should try to get a light, neutral grey, or blue, backdrop. Cardboard, whatever. Pure white reflects light up into the mini and gets rid of shadows, but is overly harsh. Also make sure you figure out how to set the camera's white balance setting. Don't worry too much about having the lens real close to the figure either...about 8" is close enough if you have it set to Macro and manually focus it right.

For the base, I tend to go with a complimentary color, then use a super-secret oil painter's technique, which it to grey things down using compliments. All that means is, say you have a medium-value red object. Take some medium-value blue and add that to the red paint to make it greyer and less intense of a red. I would do that base in a neutral brown (greyed out to a washed out, non-distracting chroma using some grey-blue maybe). Then wash it with a more deep, reddish brown to give depth and detail and compliment the greenish color on the mini. Obviously if you do this you'll want to write down the paints you used, or else mix a whole pot of it, if you plan to do a whole army.

Oh and the face looks great from what I can see.

    What Zenassassin said.

This may be me nitpicking, but Rahn doesn't look right on the base. His feet are not planted on the base. I don't know how you made the base, but I would build up the areas under his feet, especially the right foot. Think of how your feet would be on it, it just isn't natural. And since he is posed at such an incline, his tunic hangy part between his legs looks off, too. I don't think it would be rigid if it was real. Maybe build the base to be that he is at a more natural angle so it looks like the...thing is hanging realistically. The overall idea of the pose is awesome, like he's leaning back ready to go ZOT! (like Orin Midwinter), it's just the small details that are holding it back imo.

But I do like the coloring of his face and, well, everything. I like it a lot. The feet placement and such are my only constructive criticism

Please keep posting pics, I want to see where this goes.

Thank you for the imput and that was not nit picking that was the constructive criticism I was looking for. I will see what i can do about the base maybe have to make it flat or change his talbard. To be honest this is something I would of never noticed as for the feet that is a easy fix.

again thanks guys I will keep sharing as long as you all keep giving me feedback
