Default Yellow Stone and Lavender Retribution

This is a rough WIP. started this morning, taking a break for a little bit. Enjoying my day off I'm not quite sure what i am going to do with the gemstones yet. i tried a crystal ball thing with the little one on front and it came out horrible. think Im going to paint over them and just make purple gems effects on them. Not sure yet. Definitely have no idea what I'm going to do with the vents yet. Anyway, C&C welcome. Here is some rough phone shots for now:

I am keeping an eye on this. I think this will turn out to be a really cool scheme.

Very nice! What colors are you using for the armor?

Thanks for the motivation guys Despite it, I have been working slow.

Question: on the vents, do you think i should go with a white with purple edge, or mix it up somehow? Was also undecided on the blades... maybe purple crystal? Not sure. Suggestions welcome.

I am basing with PP's Bootstrap leather and then glazing with GW Averland Sunset. White + the yellow in a stippling pattern on the highlights to try to keep a more pocked and stoney feel. It was starting to look more likw gold NMM before I started this. Then shading with PP's battlefield brown.

Blade test. Need to sharpen it up, but i am getting the basic pattern down. Not sure if I want to stick with this or try a glowing OSL thing...

I got really caught up in an amazing book and lost my paint time for a few days, lol. Anyway, here is progress. think i may retouch up the gems and add a gloss after sealing.

I also have flock in the mail, this is going to be my test model for grass. Never tried it before. Any tips for it? I am going to try to flock the top surface and the sides, to try to make it look like Rahn is pulling out the chunk of ground he is standing on. not sure if i can pull that off or not.

Nice. I haven't seen many alt schemes that I've liked over the default white. Good choice of colors.

Love the colors, and especially the effect you achieved with the yellow. Really looking forward to seeing more of this army.

Static grass is easy to use. Apply white PVA glue wherever you want the grass, then cover that part with flock. Shake off the excess and let the glue dry (it dries clear so you won't see it). The important thing is that before you matte spray the model (assuming you do), give the model another shake and remove any stray strands of flock. The flock can easily get everywhere and it's really annoying if you spray the model and then find flock sealed on it somewhere. =p

I ordered a House Vyre myrmidon kit with my flock order. Going to prep and magnetize this while adventuring into flocking. Will post pics when the delivery comes

I LOVE the faceted stone look on the blade. Top notch!

You should do the other gems on the armor to match. It would give you a completely unique detail to your army and I bet it would look amazing. Instead of polished gems they would have the appearance of being faceted in a non uniform fashion. Would look SHARP.

Why do these threads always stop just before the myrmidons are posted?! I've got a sorta-yellow stone scheme in mind, and I'd LOVE to see what it looks like on a myrmidon! MOAR!

Also, don't dump it out in your lap.

The scheme is gorgeous, but I think my favourite part is the obsidian crystal blade. Snappy!

Sorry, painting had to stop as I packed up my house and started my 13 day drive to my new home in Alaska. All my stuff is in storage and I don't move into my new house until Oct. first week of October I can post up a 35% WIP on my first jack. (if it survived the move)
