    Default Gorman and Goliath

So i was just thinking about ways to deal with Colossals, as i am worried about how they will affect the game. Then i thought about black oil. If you can run him up and black oil a colossal, its basically 18 points thats not doing anything for one turn. A lot of our casters have ways that can help gorman do this. pMagnus, snipe, MACBAIN!!! true grit, Shae, god speed, etc etc. Is this a thought that i am just late to the game with? Or does this have some merit.
    Freebooter VS Nomad
This is assuming charging, and against a knocked down target with armor 20 (average d6 roll is a 3.5)
    Freebooter: 14+14=28 14+10.5=25 for a total damage of 13
    Nomad : 17+10.5=28 14+7=21 for a total damage of 9

McBain has an effective 2 turn time walk against a colossal, put Countermreasure on Eiryss and feat. Run her within 5 inches of the enemy colossal, profit.

Gorman is certainly worth trying, but I'm not entirely sure how often he will manage to get into range, given he will be colossal enemy #1 and most of them have effective weapons/tactics for taking out or keeping away things like him.

Canadian one brought up a few things. With Dougal on him and some speed boost from Shae he'll get there. MacBains feat will get him there if you run him up far enough before getting shot. Snipe and Dougal from Magnus1 can get him there.

Aiyanna is also good with helping crack them open. Between Eiryss2 knocking off Arcane Shield or whatever and Aiyanna hitting it with Kiss of Lysis, even a Nomad is doing pretty well against these things.

Of course Fiona with Long Gunners and Taryn are the real threat as you Shadow Fire it, and then double tap the caster behind it.

Can these things be stalled? I'm not sure off the top of my head and haven't gotten the new book yet. If so, the Talon isn't that bad but Meg will be great with her gun and repair skill.

I don't see stall as being very effective against a colossal. No running or charging and DEF 7? By the time Meg gets to them, they are probably sitting nice and steady where they want to be and fire their guns. And hitting one of those things isn't their real issue.

It's the charge though. At SPD 4-5, that'll help you with positioning especially for scenario wins if the thing isn't on point.

I also never advise people to build a list with a model specifically designed to counter something esle. I'm just looking for options with the list I already build. Meg sees play in my lists and I assume she does in every elses.

I win most of the SR events I attend through CP wins. Slowing down an already slow model that takes up most of the opponents force makes me happy. The infantry killing guns don't bother me as much either since I always have a list that will counter that.

I haven't played against one yet, but I know the Cygnar one is going to start showing up at two of the venues I play at. I'm not worried but will have some better feedback after I beat it a few times.

I played a game against a Colossal (proxy) and I was able to kill it with a conventional combined-arms approach. Aiyanna kissed it, one of my jacks beat the crap out of it under Damiano's feat, and SH Riflemen shot the crap out of it over two turns. It took a lot to kill, but no more than it takes to kill 20 points of other stuff.

I think it's always a good idea to have a couple of ways to kill it in your army, so if one gets taken out you have another to fall back on. So, if Gorman dies, fall back on your two heavy jacks. If your weaponmasters get killed, run Eiryss in there to slow it down.
