Default Check out my Sons of Bragg

I lurk mostly and have seen a lot of hate flung at the Sons of Bragg models. I've been working on painting my set and am making a shamless plug to see if maybe seeing them in a different way may improve the public opinion. have a look.

Paint looks great, too bad your paint job can't fix the horrible models tho.

What are you basing them with or do you just leave your bases bare?

Wow. They look even uglier. Good job.

I'm not being facetious, I looove those ugly mugs. You did some great shading on the faces. And I really prefer the dark look you have atm.

the basing is after I'm done with the painting. Currently its just static grass and a few things. my older trolls had really basic basing, so I've stuck with it to make it uniform. Something Id like to change but doubt I can

Nah, they were pre-releases at L&L. I wasn't there, but I was lucky enough to have an awesome PG. Boots-ty!

I like your paint job better than the standard, but they still look ridiculously top heavy with itty bitty legs. It isn't a trick of the camera unfortunately, it looks like the legs really are that tiny.

Just break them off their bases and rebase them, it is what I have had to do.

I think it's the pauldrons. There's two layers to them so they're elevated off the Trolls' actual shoulders.

Nah. It is really easy to see where the shoulders of the model actually are and where the pauldrons start because of the neck. The pauldrons probably don't help matters, but it doesn't change how out of proportion the legs are.

Really great paint work. Love the armor.

But yeah, you really made them look nice, but the problems are still with the lower half of the model.
So play like you've got a pair, or put down the metal and go find something made of plastic.

First I should say that they look great Boulderfist, and I plan on getting them my self.

But is it me or do they not look a little Gorillaish?

Well to each their own. I'm glad that everyone likes the work I've done. Shame that so few love the models as I do. And I suppose they do look kind of like gorillas, but hell that just makes me like them more! And thanks again for all the comments!

I think this hate for the models is a little overblown and unjustified, but meh. I like the models.

I agree with this. These are truthfully some of my favorite models in the troll range. I wish Wrathar's pose was better, but Tor and Rhudd are great I feel. But its just one man's a man who loves gorillas.

Don't get me wrong I do really like the models, both in terms of game mechanincs and physical models. I'm just curious as to possibility that the artist used primates as a reference.

I like the idea that they are not proportioned like humans... I would hope the range would go away from the human proportions more to the gorilla proportions... it would make the other races less "human knock offs" like elves and dwarves (short humans) I like that the trollkin look like trolls... it is one of the problems i have always had with the Skorne... the beasts are great but the trolls are just elves... I would have liked the whole line to be more like the titans... troopers with 4 armed trunkless elephant bodies
