Default Finished Stormwall. I love this model.

What a great sculpt and fun model to build and paint.

When I opened the box I was a little daunted by all that resin and metal, but in the grand scheme of things he went together really well. He's also a lot more detailed than I first thought - took me all week (couple of hours a night) to paint this beast.

There are a couple of fixes I want to do (which is why I'm not showing the back view for example) and I forgot I have to paint those 3 little nodes he comes with. But I'm really happy with how he turned out - I'm not even a Cygnar player, but now I'm second guessing that lol

Absolutely gorgeous. I definitely need to pick up one of these and hope to do half as good a job.

If I might nitpick, the energy, arcing, lightning bits in the back are a bit bodged compared to the rest of it. A little more time on them to smooth them would help I think. (I play Menoth, I have no idea what those things are called).

This may seem odd but my favorite bit is actually the heat shield on top of the left (viewer right) chain gun. Nicely done.

I really like the transition from dark to light on his cannons. Can you share that technique, and paints used?

Yep, you are right I had trouble with those - I'll probably clean them up a bit.

Thanks I'm happy with them too. Boltgun base, drybrushed with silver, then a wash of devlan mud. Then airbrushed with vallejo brown ink near the end of the barrel, followed by tamiya flat black. I also hit various spots of all the metallic areas with thin airbrushed glazes (just in small patches) of purple wash (leviathan).

Really? I think they look really good, like they are actually glowing. Look awesome as they are IMO.

    Great work dude, beautiful painting.

That is an amazingly good looking model there. Nice work on the rust and I kinda like the colors you used on the lightening coils. The smoke on the cannons and stacks is also pretty nicely done as well. Do you plan to get a second?

I am wracking my brain about how to paint my eventual Stormwall. I'm pretty much decided on changing my whole Cygnar scheme, starting with that amazing model. I was hoping to find inspiration here for that. Instead I found inspiration for how awesome the studio scheme can be...

    gee thanks

Great job. The style is very close to the approach I'd take when painting a Stormwall.
    The execution is really crisp.
The only issue I see is the "to definite" edge of the rusty area above the left wing of the goose on the front.
On the 2nd pic you can see it right above the wing and onwards. I think you get it.
I definitely second Chibbell's opinion on the chain gun heat guard, it turned out exceptionally well.
All in all, it's 9 out of 10 for me!

    I love this. Great job.

As a fan of rivets, I would STILL be painting each individual rivet on that monster.

Your painting skill is exceptional, but those mold lines are killing me. Don't meant to kill the mood, but next time you want to spend that much time to paint something so awesomely, clean it up properly first.

All in all though, great paintjob.

That's absolutely fantastic Shroud. And I'm not sure what Growler is talking about...I see no mold lines??? In my opinion, you did an amazing job! I love it!

Did you paint it in pieces before you assembled it?

The only line i see is the cannon, growler could have been a bit more specific though.

Oh that! I didn't want to mangle the rivets/detail but I can probably fix that up since it's mostly in black/dark areas.

I was referring to the cannon, and it looks like it's in an awkward position to try and clean. Sorry about my lack of specifics. Looking at the model another time, I'm again shocked by how amazingly it's painted!

Lovely. Everything that can be said about it has been said but I should still say something. Best Stormwall I've seen yet by a long way.

Salt weathering or applied on top of everything? The whole thing is amazing, but the weathering is really spot on.

That thing is dead sexy. Incredible work my friend, did you sponge on the rust effects? I'm dying to know how you did that.

Actually the weathering was pretty easy

Sponged on some charadon granite and dark flesh mixed
Painted orange (macharius) on some of the larger chips
When that was dry, I rubbed on some mig pigments rust with an old brush
