    Default Consume vs. the Book

Some more Gargantuan spoilers have been leaked (see the main discussion) and I am concerned a little about our holy book. I am wondering if the Archangel can swallow it whole (the bite has Consume, if you haven't looked. Allegedly.). Obviously, the rules aren't out yet, but there is stuff out there with Crit:Consume, how does that work with the Covenant?

Even though I do play PoM myself, I can say without much hessitation that I'm glad the book is easier to kill now. Frankly, its rules are incredibly powerful for a 2 point model.

That said, your opponent would need to get in, land next to your book, hit it, then fly off. If theres no space, it can't Consume your book. So place it well and you might reduce the risk of it going lost. Starburst is has Crit Consume, so it may or may not work. But again, its a model that deserves/deserved to cost more.

    EDIT:
For clarification, if I'm not mistaken, the book is indeed affected by Consume. Its just Consume has thus far been an extremely rare ability so its not one that comes up often, but the book does count as a "small based model" for all intents and purposes, except for the lateral space it takes up.

First Question, why is your book on the front line rather than 4" behind your dudes.

Either way, yes, the book counts as a small based model and therefore gets eaten. Don't expect Archangel or Hyperion to go out of their way to kill it though.

Yeah, the book counts as small based, so Hyperion and the Archangel can take care of it. So can the swamp troll.

So can Dahlia and Skarath. Because, you know, those two are huge in the current meta.

If they are committing their Archangel to kill the book then one of three things has happened. One either I am so far behind that it is an act of spite and they can do it just to do it, or I have the book so far out of position that it could be eaten, or three and that would be that they are making an awful awful trade.

First Answer, generally it's not, though I've used it to screen a small base caster in lower point games before.

Nor do I expect a huge base to go far out of its way to target the book but I'm sure the situation will come up at some point. Consume isn't so common that I've had to deal with it before, thats all.

I've been screening Thyra with the Covenant, recently... maybe I should stop doing that?

I could absolutely see the Archangel swooping in to hit some heavy, but while in the area buy an attack on the book because it's an easy way to get rid of such a piece of denial that otherwise requires 5 distinct attacks (barring a few exceptions).

Consume/crittical consume works on the book.

Might wanted to have placed this question in the rules section though and you might have gotten one straight answer and not a bunsh of people asking why your book is in a possition where it can be charged

Thanks for the answers, one more thing to watch out for.

@Pixl, its a situation unique to the Protectorate, so I thought it was more well-placed here. Oh well.
