    Default Learning to Paint. :)

I'm just learning to do this (Warmachine is my first Tabletop game) but so far I have painted a couple Jacks, my Choir and my Vassal. Definitely enjoying the process of figuring this stuff out and thought I'd post a few pics here. Any pointers are definitely appreciated.

These look great for your first attempt!
My only comment would be that the white on the Repenter looks a little flat; you did a great job on the Vanquisher, though.

I'd say you have a grasp of the basics.

I really like the tutorials at http://handcannononline.com/

And practice. One of the best pieces of advice I've heard was don't be afraid to make mistakes.

Yeah, I didn't really think to add a lot of tonal range to the white for the Repenter. But that was the first model I did. The white is crazy hard to do though. It's nasty but I have actually taken to licking my brushes as I paint to thin the paint to blend it down for the white.

Thanks for the links. I a have to agree on the "don't be afraid to make mistakes" bit. So far part of the fun is just trying stuff to see what happens. While that is pretty time consuming and leads to loads of touch ups, it's also been a really interesting process.

Pick up and start messing around with some washes, something in the brown range and maybe a black could add a ton of depth to your toys
Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.

Agreed with Electric Seal. This may be your first tabletop, but you MUST'VE painted miniatures before.

Truthfully, my only prior painting experience are the ships for Merchants and Marauders (which are more like painted monopoly pieces), which I did abut 6 months ago. I'm flattered you think I am full of it though.

Most people say that what some people say is pretty stupid.
