Default Demonstration games at Arcon 28, Oslo, Norway

We try to have a yearly presence at the Arcon gaming con in Oslo. Sadly, the once large (by norwegian standards-1300 people or so) has slumped somewhat down to around 600 people (they blame computer games, but I think the fact that they had to drop their film programme and a few other really popular events might have more to do with it). Even so, there is a pretty decent turnout every year.

This year, with a Steampunk theme to the con, we set up 8 demo/freeplay tables, with a train theme (the tracks run all the way down the table line, and the train moved 12" every 10-15 minutes. Get hit by the train and get slammed d6+3 inches away and suffer a POW20 hit). The promo name was "Iron Kingdoms Express" and the concept was a disneyland-like ride through different areas of the IK...not all of which have railways in the setting.

The length of the track and the first table, made up to represent a station on the Bainsmarket-Point Bourne line.

The winter table - somewhere north of Tverkutsk

The trench table - somewhere between Northguard and Ravensguard

Generic forest table, meant to represent the Gnarls

One of two ruins tables - the idea here was that it was more built-up than the other and represented Riversmet

The other ruin table - Fisherbrook post-Severius

One of the Bloodstone Marches tables, a Protectorate community. Also known as the "Medium Kebab Sauce" table for the color.

The other Bloodstone Marches table, a Skorne outpost near the Iosan border. Mild Kebab Sauce.

Yours truly. Some old friends are steampunk enthusiasts, and helped me get this lovely picture

New players got points for playing games and at the end of the day the one with the most points won a Battlebox. I realize that I should have made those points part of a raffle instead, to encourage people playing even when, mid-day, there really were two contenders gunning for the box..

This was saturday. Sunday we ran a 15-points tourney with no painting requirement, so people who'd bought (or won) a BB the day before could participate.

So that's what havre's tables were for. Looks like a really fun day! Always nice to see some cool themed tables, and I like the railroad running through them all. Did anyone actually ever manage to get slammed by the train?

This is what i can remember getting hit by the train

1x Menoth Battle engine, this was just pushed away due to the size
    1x Merc Talon Jack
    1x Menoth Crusader Jack
    1x Retribution Chimera Jack

Certain there where more than this tough.

And not to mention all the people who got there assassination run stopped because of the train blocking the way.

The Train was considered an Enormous base. There's no stopping it

That's pretty awesome. Glad the train got some punch time in!
