We left as the final table table was setting up, but I did get to see a good bit of his games prior to that point. John has some lists that I myself dont 100% agree with, but they fit his play style very well, and he does incredible with them. His game with the Skorne player leading into the last game was a real stressful one for those of us watching. EMakeda had her feat available and jammed all his beasts in to John's front line and flew with one to get close to EFeora, so John had some difficult choices to make in how to allocate resources and who to kill and be able to survive his next turn. He managed to kill a few beasts, and position EFeora to where even IF they could get to him, they would be swinging at a DEF 17 caster (he ran her next to the Reckoner for the debuff). Needless to say, they didn't get the kill, and he was in a solid position on his next turn and got the win.... That was in my opinion the best game of his during the tournament.... So many threats and he had to do everything correct, or he was getting trampled to and killed by one of his opponents 5 beasts. It was pretty awesome. He earned this win.

Mostly because Harm + that battlegroup means you can put down enemy heavies from a very comfortable distance. Plus eFeora really doesn't need Rhoven - if you encounter Stealth you just drift AoEs at them until they're on fire, or in the case of Heavies just take them out with your crazy threat ranges.

Plus Magic weapons never hurts, especially if you're taking on another Protectorate list.

He's been playing crutch free without the Avatar all year. And the mechanics are great for ensuring that the jacks keep working. The list itself is pretty focus efficient, and e Feora doesn't necessarily need a ton of focus even on feat turn with this list.

BtW, love the snippet of your color scheme on that Sanctifier, FMM.

If you're referring to the banner in my sig, that's the banner for my LGS. Its been that way for a long long time now and its definitely not a Sanctifier. I assumed it was a Khador jack but now that I look at it closely I can't fully place it. Maybe a classic destroyer?

Gotcha. Still looks pretty sweet. A second look and I see it. However, the Sanctifier would still look nice with those colors.
