    Default Morvana 35pts thoughts

    Hi

I have a fair amount of Circle but no stalker, Ghetorix, Guardian, shadowhorn, weavers or skinwalkers. It does not need to be competition competitive.

I am thinking about Morvana at 35 pts.

    Morvahna
    Gnarlhorn
    Megalith
    Shifting Stones
    Bloodtrackers (6) Nuala
Wolves of Orboros (6) Officer & Standard

    That is 28 points

    Stones are sacrificial for Morv
Megalith is core and provides fury management, animus, muscle and geomancy.
Gnarlthorn can slap animus on Megalith to boost him and is a good self sufficient utility beast.
Wolves and bloodtrackers work well with Morv.

    So thoughts on add ons.

    Options:

    1) Druids where magic defence is useful
    2) LotF, wolves up to full unit and a grove, stones UA or warwolf (LotF adds to feat turn)
    3) Bog trogs (love my trogs) wolves to max.

I have weavers on order they could fit in possibly even replace wolves. How would you include them?

    Other thoughts?

I always like to play the Reeves of Orboros with megalith. I keep them around Morvahna and use megaliths animus round there intended targets.

I'd max out one of your units, which ever you feel like to get the most of regrowth.

Your currently lacking any sort of anti-armour. You can play around this but it is making life difficult for yourself.

If you want blood weavers you'll have to drop one of your infantry units. Morv is good with infantry, but 3 small units arn't going to be a round for that long, even with regrowth.

I only have 6 trackers so I tend to use just the 6.

Yes weavers would replace wolves probably.

Max wolves was an option in option 2.

I think I need a druids with UA based force for Menoth games.

Anti armour: my thoughts were wolves with mini-feat because this has worked for me well before (7*23 damage or 3*25 damage average assuming your facing low def) and Megalith has a bit of a punch. We seem to have little heavy armour meta at our club at present. However, I take your point. Morv kind of struggles with heavy armour because she has to rely on animus to boost or one of our very few heavy hitters. That drives Morv towards living beasts and primal but she wants constructs for fury management.

Hpw would you build a 35pt Morv and Megalith force? Or would you just not?

Dont use a gnarlhorn with Morvahna. She plays an attrition game using her regrowth unit to snarl things up, tear apart infantry, and eventually enable her to systematically destroy enemy heavies. A gnarlhorn doesnt really figure in that gameplan because it doesnt do alot of damage (compared to a feral) and you dont get much use out of its other assets - the additional threat range is near useless (regrowth unit should be making threat range irrelevent) and slamming stuff isnt really that helpful when you want to destroy an enemy heavy.

I was using the Gnarlthorn because:

    a) I like the model
    b) the animus helps Megalith
    c) Counter slam is a good extra layer of defence
    d) I like the model
    e) Its a good assasination beast
    f) everything together makes it a flexible utility model
    g) slams can be interesting on feat turn because its effectively a ranged melee attack.
    h) Did I mention I like the model?

It may not be the most competative model but I am aiming for an enjoyable club play and not a killer list.

I'm sort of baffled about the purpose of the thread then. You can clearly think for yourself and point out that the competitiveness of the list isnt an issue... what input could we provide that would actually be helpful?

The gnarlhorn is a nice piece but totally asynchronous with Morvahna.

Buy the four additional trackers. Buy them now. Not necessarily because you need them straight away but because at some stage you will definately decide you want them (for multiple casters) and privateer press will be discontinuing the 2-model blister pack at some time in the near future. This isnt just throw away advice - I picked up the extra four trackers recently for this exact reason. They are still in the box but I'd much rather pay for them now than have to buy a full 10-man set in six months time.

Thanks SS that is really good advice about the trackers and I had not thought of it.

Yes I have my ideas but I was looking for other ideas that I had not thought of. Trust me the comments above have really helped.

I completely understand where you are coming from with the feral but I am concerned about the loss of the animus.

At the moment from advice I am thinking to go wolves to max and take lotF. Try not throwing in LotF first chance and instead time it with the feat turn. I do not think I will pull it off but it would be interesting if I could.
