Best way to start out?

So if i can get my 40k stuff sold i plan on starting of with ret when i get back into warmachine (been playin legion for a while). It will just be 35pts starting off and and im just looking for the best way to start off. My caster will be kaelyssa as she seems to be a good looking tool box, but i cant figure out what to get beyond her and the myrmidons...which are a banshee and phoenix. Anyhow here are my list ideas.

Im leaning towards the second list, as the halberds should help ossyan when i get him, but the first list has more hitting power with sentinels. Which one would be better to start with? Normally cost would make it easier but they will end up costing pretty much the same.

In general, she likes most infantry types, with two heavies in the list you probably should have some hard hitting infantry like Sentinels to maximize your damage output.

Arcanists cost one point each, not two.

Leave you enough points for a MHA. I would also go with a full unit and not 2 half units. With your sentinel list you can add Aiyana and Holt or 2 MHA

I'm also leaning toward the second list. Having a full unit in there is very nice and they are Halberdiers... woof. Such good cheap infantry. On their mini-feat turn I killed a clean Bronzeback with 4 of them. Granted, I rolled like a god, but those little shield walling fellows can REALLY throw down with the UA mini-feat.

I echo the sentiments of the others. Arcanists are 1 point. And that's good for a second MHA, or you might try out a Magister. May not mesh well with this list, but the Magister is my favorite solo outside of Skeryth Issyen. He does a lot of really cool stuff.
