    Default Harriers and Stingers

Anyone use these guys on a regular basis? If so why/how/with which casters?

I don't play Legion (this is probably going to change once the Archangel and 2 player starter box are released) but from what I've seen deployed against me and from skimming threads I see just about every Legion list have at least one Shredder (understandably) but very few include Harriers, and I don't think I've ever seen one (on forums or IRL) with a Stinger - I'm sure somebody uses them, right?

    Just curious.

I think most people run the stinger and the harrier via the spawning vessel.

Shredders are there for the animus, Stingers and Harriers are spawned situationally from the Spawning Vessel as needed since their applications are too narrow to justify the points normally.

Handy thread you linked, did give me some more insight into their uses - thanks!

I take shredders often enough, but rarely harriers or stingers. I always spawn at least one harrier at some point during any eThagrosh match, but stingers rarely make it onto the table. I suppose if I knew that I would be fighting hordes, sure, but I agree it's more a spawning vessel thing. The problem with picking harriers and stingers over shredders is that a shredder is always good, while harriers and stingers are a bit more case-specific, so if you can make them after you know your match-up, they're much more viable.

I often use a harrier in my vayl2 tier 4 list. I spawn stingers most often. 2 of my matches at a steam roller I won this past sunday I spawned a stinger who put over half the damage on high arm warcasters to aid the wearing down of their caster. If it weren't for spawned stingers killing some casters would have not likely happend. They both have a place. Getting them when the situation calls for it is what makes the spawning vessel & lessers so good

I would differentiate between using and fielding them...

I don't spend points on harriers or stingers unless I play a abby or vayl2 tier list. Vayl2 needs 3 winged beasts and since I'm not a huge fan of fielding seraphs with her, it comes down to either tripple angel or dual angel+harrier. Abby tier wants 3 lessers and 1-2 shredders are enough.

But I do spawn the stinger quiet a lot with any warlock that runs a vessel. You can create some weird vectors with a vessel and 4d6 can put some serious hurt on your opponents caster/lock.

My main opponents plays Retribution of Scyrah, so I always bring a Harrier or two to deal with Mage Hunter Assassins, Nayl, and Eiyriss.
Against anything else, I can just spawn it when the Animus becomes relevant or if I really need to kill a high def solo or UA.

I've actually reached the point where I don't bring a Shredder in most lists and simply make it the first thing that comes out of the pot since by the time I actually need Tenacity I've got 3 corpses in the pot.

Spawning them, sure. In eThagrosh's case, the reason I spawn a harrier is so that I can give Thagrosh the auto-hit in melee. It's been a tremendous advantage in several games, and is always a key tool when going for the assassination. Flying harriers are good targets for scourge too. Last time I fought pVlad with eThagrosh, I ran a harrier behind vlad, skirting around his melee, and ended activation back to back with him so neither were engaged, then charged with thagrosh, interrupted my charge for scourge and hit my own harrier in the back.

I rarely pay the points to put Stingers in my lists though. They're good, but limited, and are, in my opinion, best suited for the spawning vessel, where you can bring them out where you know they'll do some good.

I've been thinking of starting playing a ranged beast heavy pVayl tier 4 list lately and am thinking that a stingers animus might be pretty sweet. All if I get the first turn of course.

First turn: Run like crazy toward enemy under snow cover or whatever it is messing up LOS with tier 4.
Second turn: Enemy should be in range of shooting. Apply bushwack liberaly. Shoot. Back up.

I rarely take harriers or stingers, but the problem isn't with either of those particular lessers, it's the fact that shredders are just so darned good. I take shredders for more than their animus, though. I almost always have my shredders save my bacon when my opponent and I get dug in. Being able to advance 8 inches and make 2 double boosted attacks is just too handy. Harriers and stingers will be second string for me until MK3 at the earliest.

Harriers are great solo killers and I will waste two points any day to give a melee 'lock an auto hit ignoring an enemies defense which may be buffed. Not saying four is needed just one or two so you keep that animus in your lineup. They are great to send in on something you need a few damage on after your heavy just flubbed its last roll and needed only three damage.
