    Default Starting stuff for characters

Ok maybe I just missed it, but I was making an NPC that I want to attach to the party who will later fall from grace and become an opponite of the group, a Gun Mage so i made the character up, but no where in the Character Guide does it give starting money for the class, i noticed a few of them are that way. (I used a sorcerer's starting cash value for him) but wondering if anyone knows where the special classess starting cash values are? thanks

Is this for the 3.5 Iron Kingdoms rule set? I believe that Gunmage is a prestige class, meaning you can't start as one, which is why there's no starting equipment.

But the glory of a game like this is that the rules can be bent to suit your needs right?

I can't offer any good advice on getting the math right though

The 3.5 IKRPG Gunmages are a base class. Pistoleer, and the Arcane Tempest and Amethyst Rose Gunmages are the related prestige classes.

I'm not sure what the starting wealth is, but I generally don't do starting wealth... I do starting kits where each character gets a piece of class-iconic equipment and then a few essentials relevant to their class... so a Gunmage might get a nice pistol (which is generally outside the range of starting money), whereas a Paladin might get a decent suit of armor or a Great Sword or something. At higher levels, I tend to take the average character wealth for that level, increase it by about 10%, and then divide it in half... 50% of which goes toward the Iconic gear (a weapon or matched pair of weapons, a suit of steam armor, etc... but only one of those choices) and the rest of which goes toward the other odds and ends which the character might want.

It's not a question of win or lose, it's a question of whether or not you want to have friends afterwards.

I did something very similar, I gave the G-mage a descent gun, a D12 reloads, and a Coat. some misc gear and a d3 gold.

NPCs have fixed level-based starting money, independent of actual class. DMG 3.5, pg. 127.

(I think this is one of the bits you can't reprint in D20 SRDs)

The starting wealth of the GM was accidently omitted. There is an errata on the net that claims that Gun Mage received 4d4x10 gp as starting. This information was based on a similar thread in the old defunct forums.
