colossal sides and free strikes

Quick question that came up last night. Let's say the stormwall has his left side wrecked. I have a model on the right side with sufficient movement to cross the left and get out of combat.

Is the free strike at a single dice to hit because of the wrecked left side or does he get two as I crossed out of the right side.

We played it as only 1d6 because I never left his melee range until I was over there but we wanted to check.

A free strike is +2 to hit, and boosted damage, so I would have thought if the weapon system on that side was damaged, i.e, only rolling 1 die, the free strike would be 1 die +2 to hit, with damage boosted to 2 dice.

1d6; you take the free strike only when leaving his melee range, and when you did that, only the crippled arm could legally target you, unless you're referring to Hyperion under pVyros, which to my knowledge is not an answered question yet, since Hyperion has a 360 degree melee range but only 180 degrees of weapons he can target with. For all other cases, the crippled arm is the only arm that can free strike you in that case.

Cool thanks, we played it that way but just wanted to make sure since it let pMadrak bury Rathrok in pHaley's face and the Cygnar player was far less happy than I was.
