    Default Gators vs Legion

    Hey again.
Even though I said I would take my camera for pics in my next game, in the heat of the moment forgot to grab it on the way out the door. Won't let that happen again. My oppenent was another buddy. I feel like we both made mistakes throughout the match, he maybe more than me, and I learned that Maelok's feat was much better than I thought it was. With that said, here is the report:

This match had me worried once I saw Lyleth and the Raptors hit the board. Rolled off, he won, and I set down first.

    Turn 1
We both deployed the armies in the center of the deployment zones staying away from most terrain. I had a GmP on the mid and right flank, with the right side supported by a croak hunter. The left and middle had both Wrastlers, Maelok, and the Bullsnapper near the center GmP. His deployment was mirrored with legionnaire's in the middle, SV right behind and beast and Raptors on the flanks. I ran everything forward (minus Maelok so I could cast Death Pact on the center GmP) and made sure to stay out of shooting range of the Raptors as my right GmP unit was the Prey. His turn saw running to try and close the distance between and staying just outside charge range. Raptors attempt to shoot and miss as I was lucky. Ravagore shot and missed, deviated in the middle between both of our armies.

    Turn 2
Upkept the good stuff. Started with the Bullsnapper moving behind the center unit and giving his SG(spiny growth) to a GmP member. Maelok gave another 2 members SG and moved to sit on the hill incase of incoming ranged shots. The center GmP unit charged the Legionnaire unit and Angelius. Killed 5 Legionnaire's and did 10 damage to the Angelius with the reroll to hit. The right flank GmP unit ran into the center and in front of Maelok and the Wrastlers to try to hide from the Raptors. Wrastlers moved to the right and around Maelok and riled so I could max out. His turn began with doing no damage with vengeance moves. He began with the Angelius and one shotted a member of the GmP and did a point or two to another. The Legionnaires moved up and kill a few members as well. The SV spawned another shredder, and killed another GmP member and the regular shredder followed to kill the last member for no more revives. (Unbelievable damage was happening at this point to me) The ravagore took a popshot on the regular GmP unit and killed a member which helped by taking me out of shooting range from the Raptors who attempted there shots and bided there time.

    Turn 3
So at this point I am worried. I have one GmP unit left and think I have no way to deal with Lyleth at this point. With no fear at this point, I had the first Wrastler get thrown forward by the second to deviate back into my own troops. He still gained a couple of inches but it was not what I wanted to see. Maelok activated and cast revive on the GmP and rise on the thrown Wrastler. The first Wrastler then charged the Angelius and hit every time with boosted attacks except the last initial which still hit. One Angelius down at this point. Next the GmP charged the Legionnaire's and Shredder and opted for +1 Def this time around. Killed 3 more members and did half damage to both Shredders. Had the Croak throw his weapon and kill one of the SV members. His turn began with vengeance once again doing nothing and one shredder frenzying but missing with triple box cars. Next Legionnaires tried to kill a posse member but left him with a few boxes left. The raptors moved in from behind to try to hit the prey GmP (succeed in killing one) but ended up missing and killing a Legionnaire and doing a few more points of damage to the good shredder taking away body and spirit. Lyleth went next and shot the Wrastler up front, did nothing but put Parasite on him. Then she tried to shoot a GmP guy but missed and shot the last Legionnaire in the back. Finally the SV goes, tries to kill the hurt GmP member but fail to and spawn a Stinger who charges the Wrastler. Does quite a bit of damage but luckily still alive with half my boxes on him. Then the Ravagore goes and shoots the Wrastler that is engaged, hits but does only a few points of damage while setting his continuos effects on both melee particapants.

    Turn 4
I find out that Maelok's feat is better than I thought (Now I love Maelok). The Wrastler up front passes his check to frenzy sadly. Revive the two members missing from the GmP and pop feat for incorporeal. The GmP charges Lyleth and opts for the reroll this time with 4 members surrounding her and out of the 4 one doesn't have the half inch. Needless to say, the rerolls made it happen with the first and fourth members charge killing her off!

    Conclusion
I definitely played a little to safe and should have opted for the +1 Def on the first GmP units charge as the rerolls didn't matter. His turn 3 was full of mistakes with when and where to shoot. I think he could have had the caster kill with the Raptors and Ravagore followed by a Stinger charge as he was within range to do so. Luckily he got too excited about trying to kill the last GmP which worked to my favor. Overall very fun game and lots of killing on both sides of the board.

Thanks again for the battle report. As a future Maelok player, these reports make me excited.
When you pop feat, it seems easy for GmP to slip past models and get behind enemy lines, but, they each still need to have some line of sight to charge caster, right? Seems tricky to pull off assassinations like that.

Maelok has become my favorite caster of the swamps. His ability to revive gators into charge lanes on enemy casters, and make it so enemy troops don't get in the way is awesome. He is great fun to play.
