    Lightbulb A Flameguard alternative ?

    Heya,

So Im still in the middle of building this menoth army and the Flameguard are going to be a important part of it.

Now, I am admit tingly not a huge fan of the look the guys sport. The helmets are cool but I really do not dig the warrior in Night- garn - look.

So I got thinking about other options. One obvious and simple one would be to grab the Iron fang Pikemen, add Menofixes, a fitting ccolor scheme and some conversions.
I like the IF Pikemen models quite a bit, would this be tournament legal ? Would this be a huge Fluff- break ? I do know that there are supposed to be quite a few menites in Khador but have not red too much of the menoth fluff as of yet.

Theo ther idea which came to me was to convert some errants, by adding Spears but this sounds quite difficult to pull off and i would have - yet- more Exemplar models on the table

    Any input ?

+1 on the TFG models, they are lame.
I've been thinking about Stealhead Harberdiers, painted in Menoth colors and with converted weapons.

I didnt even think of the Steelheads, now its steelheads vs IFP D:

The thing with the steelheads is that they dont have shields and many of their poses are two-handed, plus, their weapons are halbs and not spears. hmmm

For the sake of Legality, OFFICIALLY, you need 60% of the model to be the original model and the right weapons in their respective arms. This should not Discourage you out right though, For I'm sure many judges will be more then willing to over look this rule if some effort was put in to make them look "Protectorate" enough. I said this in another thread, but I took my battle box Revenger and just Painted him to "Look" like Blessing of Vengeance and most people don't even realize it isn't him, I was allowed to use him as that model in my local tournament because he was so close to the same model, no one mind. So the short answer of is it legal, then: No it would not be, The reality is though, No one will likely call you out on it.

There was an insider which talked about changing IFP to TFG. Check it out:

If you get a unit of Errants, and don't attach the shields to the back of your crossbow armed guys, you'll have quite a few spare shields left over to work on your conversion too, so then you'll just have to find a way to get rid of the Khador symbols, and you're all good.
