    Default Critical Amputation vs. Colossals

How does the Destroyer's Executioner Axe Critical: Amputation interact with Collossals and their damage grids. Let's say a Destroyer charges a Conquest and deals 3 damage to column 1 on the right damage grid. This means the Conquest's superstructure has one box filled in. By normal Crit: Amputation rules, you'd fill in all boxes on the damage grid with an "S" no matter what column they're in. However this Warjack has two damage grids. Would the critical disable all the boxes on one damage grid, or both?

If the answer is both, the Destoyer could become a valuable weapon for fighting Colossals in the near future!

The Juggernaut is 7 points for ARM 20 and P+S 19.
The Marauder is 7 points for the lols.

only one grid is affected. And its only arms for the crit so the s boxes are still safe.

Even if it did work that way, You greatly overstate the value of the critical effect. If you are relying on a critical effect, you aren't bringing the biggest threats you can. Our current Colossal hunters are Behemoth, Beast-09, The Butcher.

It's not the Destroyer that's bad, it's the Crit. It'd be a tad more tempting if you could amputate Legs with it (=Movement), but currently, the Destroyer would be better off with a different crit.

I disagree with b-9 being any kind of contender to hurt a colosal. A stock juggernaught would do just as well damage output wise. I would rank it as Behemoth, drago, destroyer, and black ivan. Yea most of its crit fishing but thats better than just hiting real hard. Heck even a decimator, or torch would do better imo. But i dont think they have crit shred? No they have sustaind attack, but b-9 is the most over hyped jack we have. He litterally brings reach to a fight vs a colosal and thats it. Sure agrassive and heavy boiler are cool. But i would rather take cheap jack spam, or behemoth/drago. I think that crit amputation ranks up there with fishing for jugg crits vs a colosal. But then again i would rather have a destroyer back shooting. But drago I would sic on a collosal any day and fish for crits.

Drago with one of the vlads could be pretty bad *** if you can find a way to deliver him with both arm systems in tacked. Generally i find thats the hardest part to using drago. His threat level combined with his relative squisheyness usually means he draws a lot of fire when i play him.

I agree with steamwitch on some of this. Beast is great for infantry clearing or, in certain circumstances, scrapping a heavy, but i dont seem him as being a designated colossal killer. A juggy is just as good for 2 less points, nothing beast has really helps him in killing a colossal. He's not overhyped, mind you, he's one of the best jacks in the game, hes just not a colossal killing machine.

4 less points acctually. I suppose "over hyped" is a bit much. I just hardly use him for anything mabey because I play low point games mostly? But I stand by what I said none the less B-9 dosent impress me for takeing on a collosal. And delevering drago i can see as a challange simply for the fact you know why you packed him in your bag and so dose your opponent.

Behemoth + Gorman = 3/4 dead to dead Colossal of any variety.

Drago is just fishing for crits but with any variety of Vlad that should be pretty ok still but he'll need some help softening up the colossal first.
There is no 'overkill'. There is only 'open fire' and' I need to reload'.

"On a critical hit, Warjack Arms and weapon systems that suffer damage from this attack are crippled". How would that not apply to the super structure as it controls the main guns? I would qualify that as a weapon system.

And really, the point of this thread was to try and say that, "While there are clearly things in our army better at wrecking a colossal, the destroyer might serve as a solid runner up if you can't afford the Behemoth, or if you're just looking for a cheaper insert into your army." Not trying to say it's the beat all and end all go to choice for Colossal shredding.

Well... oh. That is interesting, then. The wording is probably C&P from MK1, which now puts up the question what qualifies as a "Weapon System". The S on the Conquest does. On Stormwall, too, I guess. But on the Judicator? I know the Galleon has none, and don't know about the Kraken or Hyp.

But if they do, then yes, crippled is crippled, no matter left or right grid.

true, i was just thinking the rules for colosals themselves like side damage and superstructure haveing some rule. But i reserve judgement till more table time is had, and an infernal who will ruin yet another khador trick. But i like the destroyer personally i own 3stock ones!

Whether or not it is a weapon system is not up to you. For example, the G system on many myrmidons is never a weapon system, despite often operating at least one weapon. The same is true of the S system on Behemoth - it is not a weapon system despite operating a weapon, which has nothing to do with what you or I think of the issue. I have not read the actual Colossal rules yet, but odds are very slim that their S systems will qualify as weapon systems for amputate; typically only L, R, and H systems do.

Even if it doesn't chop away at BOTH grids, Crit amputate could still be pretty effective against colossals. If you nick even one box of their "L" or "R" system on a crit? There goes the whole thing. That could mean about 5 EXTRA boxes of damage (if you catch only one box with your crit, and your fighting the Conquest). 5 bonus damage is great!
