How do I paint them?
How do I paint them?
White skin with some of that colorshift auto paint for the chiton.
I play Legion. WL:11 WB:45 BE:1 S:15 U:10 A:7 = 446ptsThe Afflicted: Brun, Durgen, Sorcha2, Lord of the Feast, Narn, Lylyth2, Baldur1, Skarre1, Makeda3, Hexeris2...
First you put paint on the brush, and then...
:P just kidding
Seriously though, one of the things I like about legion is how open the paint scheme is. Given the background of Everblight engineering these creations, there really is no color scheme that cannot work. There are some great threads of legion paint scheme on these forums, if you search for them. I personally went for a much darker blue skin tone with a slightly lighter chiton color. I really like how it turned out.
Or was color scheme not what you were asking about?
I think you have to pray to dark gods and offer up your first few unborn children as sacrifices to gain the understanding of how to paint.
But yeah few ideas:
1) If you don't know "how" to paint see if there are any locals at your club who can teach you. Painting in itself has a lot of simple methods that you can read about online, but are (like most hands on skills) better taught in person.
2) Check out the painting section here on teh forums - and google. Lots of guides.
3) Try and decide on a pattern/colour scheme you want; or read around and see if there is one you like that you'd like to copy. Once you have a colour scheme idea you can ask around for tips on how others would paint it.
I've painted my necron army, almost done with my protectorate. I am feeling intimidated by everblight though...you have to make them look like they are .......alive
I prime white. I know people prime in black, but I like to be able to see the details.
I then paint black on all the chitinous parts and white on all the skin.
Next is a heavy dry brushed coat of brown on the chitinous parts.
then a lite dry brushed coat of tan on the chitin.
Then an extremely lite dry brushed coat of white on chitin.
Paint all other details desired color.
Cover the entire model in a black wash.
let dry.
dry brush white onto the dominate muscles and large open skin areas.
Done.
My beasts don't take long. Troops and casters are much more demanding.
Any questions?
Are those things in the legion paint pack? If not could you name the colors that aren't in that you use?
I'm a reformed 40k player, so I have all Gw paints.
I use black, white, beastial brown(medium brown color), bleached bone (very light tan), blood red(normal red color not a maroon) for interior of mouth, badab black( black wash)
You can make your own black wash. 1/4 black paint. 3/4 water. If you want it thicker go 1/3:2/3.
I don't really know what colors are included in the legion paint set. But you don't have to use my colors exactly. Use it more like a guide.
The idea is to build the colors up from darkest to light. Gives it a more natural feeling. Always use colors that are similar.
Example. Black to brown to tan to white.
I've always found making peices look real to be hard. I've gotten them to look better over time but not at the level that I see all around me.
Sorry about the lighting
