Faction Dedication and Purchasing Survey

Hello, I was interested in doing a little research on a specific topic: How many people prefer to buy almost everything that comes out for one or more factions, and how many just buy selected models they like. However, I don't seem to be able to post a poll, which is a bit sad. So I figured I would try the non-automated poll survey.

The main distinction here is between "buy almost everything" and "buy selectively". The first option means that you intend to buy everything that comes out, and only choose not to buy something if it is particularly poor or repulsive in some way. The second option means that you don't intend to buy anything unless something particularly catches your eye, ie. that you only buy the new releases that stand out in some way. This only relates to factions you already own and collect, not to starting a new faction.

With this in mind, those that wish to participate can manually reply with one of the following survey answers that they feel best describes them. They're written with the intention that it should only be necessary with a single answer per person.

A. I own one faction only, and buy almost everything that comes out for it.
B. I own multiple factions, and buy almost everything that comes out for all of them.
C. I own one or more main factions, for which I buy almost everything, and one or more secondary factions, for which I only buy selectively.
D. I own one faction only, and only buy selectively for it.
E. I own multiple factions, and only buy selectively for all of them.

C is my answer. Of course I count Blindwater as a faction, and it is my main. So not that hard to purchase every model for it.

B here. I have 4 factions of which three are built up and nearing completion on painting. Neither army misses more then a few entries (mainly things i dont see a good use for like the skinner)

Main Factions: Retribution and Trollbloods (there is little Ret I do not own, but then again comparatively there is little Ret to be had. Trolls have 1 unit type I will not touch: Any Pyg unit. Casters can have em with em, they can ride on my beasts, but they shall not be in my army as a unit.)
Lesser-Main Factions: Mercenaries and Cryx (I have a significant amount, but there are things for both I will not buy such as Biles, Revenants, and Satyxis for Cryx and ANYTHING Pirate Themed for Mercs... not even the jacks.)
VERY Minor Factions: Khador and Everblight (I really buy VERY little for either, only Blighted Ogrun and Beasts for Everblight...).
Future Minor Faction: I'm thinking of doing a PoM army that is ONLY Knight Exemplar and Jacks.

C - I've nearly got all the Cygnar models and have 2 battleboxes (Trolls and Skorne) to play around with - I plan on getting more Skorne and Mercenaries when I've finished my Cygnar collection

If I had to pick one it would be C but there really isn't one that describes me best. I have a lot of Khador and have bought everything for it, some things in multiples, yes I even own Kossites. I also have Mercenaries but will be very particular about my purchases, I buy everything for minions, and limit myself on Skorne.

Sounds like C to me too - you have two factions that you buy everything for, and two factions that you are selective about.

I guess when it comes to mercs and minions, they count as factions for this purpose when the player owns warcasters and warlocks for them and plays them as an independent entity...

Retribution is my main and I have nearly everything. Legion is my secondary, and I'm very careful with my purchases.

I'm definitely a C. If it has a Swan on it it will be mine. For Menoth and Circle it's wether or not I need it in the lists I'm working with at the moment.

Ret is my main and I have almos everything, most in multiples. I have a 35pt. painted Lego. army that is left from the sell off and about 50pt. in Cryx.

Sort of E. I have a pretty big Protectorate collection but I do only buy selectively for it, it's just been going long enough to have a fair bit, and I'm just beginning a small Circle side-project that, in many years time, will probably end up being the same.

C. I love my Khador army & I try to stay up-to-date with all the releases, I also have some Circle models but I'm picky about what I get, & I don't know about Farrow there are so few models it seems like you have no choice but to get all of them.

I think it's really the only way to keep up with everything. Any more than one faction would make that not only difficult (in terms of actually getting to play with all the new toys), but expensive! :P

C. Menofixes are my great weakness. Besides having the vast majority of Protectorate models, in multiples in some cases (I think I have 6 Repenters - and I had even more before my BE conversion), as well as many of the mercs that will work for them, I have a Cygnar force that was fairly complete. I have not been keeping that up to date, though, in favor of picking up a smallish Legion army.

I have one army for hordes, I buy selectively for it (still no scout solo), and I bolster it with minon troops.

You could say I have 3 armies for Warmachine: Ret, Menoth, and to a limited extent Mercs. I guess you could say I purchase selectively for them as well, Ret is the closest I have to a complete army (still haven't bit the bullet on destors.)

I was Gators (except for one full Posse/Cassius's Bone Grinters/Bog Trogs/Wrongeye w/ Bullsnapper since I figure those could be useful in other lists) but traded/sold those out for Circle of which I am just missing a Shadowhorn, Cassius, and the Reeves; this point pisses me off a bit because the completionist in me DEMANDS the Reeves but everything other part of me screems no as I already own Nyss Hunters and the Reeves are honestly one of the hardest sells in terms of "why would I ever play these" I have come across.

Now, while I meticulously clean and assemble my minis, they do generally never see paint as I am just not really a painter. I actually enjoy the look of pewter, especially pewter that has sat in Simplegreen and gotten that "antiqued" look to the finish!
