    Default Mohsar 50 points

    Hey guys

So I am currently working on getting past the wormahordes learning curve (won my first game tonight with eKaya woohoo!!!) and after taking a second look at Mohsar I really like him. I learned how smashes work in detail tonight and how big of a deal making structures can be in this game. Mohsar looks like a fun, tricky little caster that will allow me to do a lot of annoying stuff. How is my take on him looking?

    Mohsar (+5)

    -Megalith (11)
    -Warpwolf Stalker (10)
    -Gnarlhorn Satyr (8)
    -Gorax (4)

    Shifting Stones (2)
    -Stonekeeper (1)
    Full Bloodtrackers (8)
    -Nuala (2)
    Min Wolf Riders (6)
    Wilder (2)
    Gallow Grove (1)

    50

I have a geo so I can use his offensive spells safely on top of all the nice healing, debuffs, etc. The stalker can help me get some of the heavy hitting in as well as chop up infantry. Since I plan on this being a good anti-infantry list I think he has to be an auto-include. The satyr can probably be dropped but I really like the idea of ramming stuff into pillars. Gorax seems to be a no brainer choice for obvious reasons.

The trackers and wolf riders give me a lot of hit and run tactics that can abuse pillars. The wilder gives me an extra animus, the grove gives me a node and the stones do what stones do.

Essentially I can see a list like this functioning well with hit and run tactics using pillars to cover me. I can cast double lightning strike (stalker and wilder) on the stalker and gnarlhorn so they run in, hit and run back as well as do the same thing with the tharns and their javelins. Throw up some pillars to block off the returning charges and do the same thing next turn to create a fun poke and harass army that can handle objectives well.

Do I have the right idea or is this a list that will fail in practice?

This list looks pretty good, its definitely on the right track atleast and shouldn't have too much problems. You've got a pretty good selection of some of circles best models, so really you should happily take this with no worries.
As far as like, really nitty gritty critiques? Well, I'd personally drop the Wolfriders, not because they arnt good (CoS makes them awesome with Mohsar) but becaue there are just a few tweaks I would make to the list with the points saved. In short, I'd turn the gnarlhorn into a feral, throw in a second unit of shifting stones, swamp gobbers, and a blackclad wayfarer. Again, its not that you NEED any of these things in your list, but they would tune the army out for my style of play, so take that into account when building your list.

Hope that helps ya, Mohsar is one of the more difficult circle warlocks to learn so be prepared to get your *** beat a few times

It looks like a fairly standard list to me. Not sure whether you need the stones, maybe invest the points better into more Groves (two to three is a good number).

Btw Wolf riders are good Sand of Fate targets for assassination runs. They are fast and get everywhere and put some hurt on a caster. Then teleport in, use Megaliths animus and start spraying/crevasse. Mohsar is mostly the carrier for mega´s animus so that the tracker hit even caster, but his spray and crevasse + CoS can also hurt a lot.
You can SoF(2), undergrowth(2), spray with a boost for either hit or damage(1) (remember to aim before the SoF, if 16"+wolfrider base + 5" (megas animus) is in reach of the caster) + either CoS boosted to hit or Crevasse+single boost (4). But be sure to kill the oppo. otherwise ...

Good to see I am on the right path. I actually really like your suggestion. A slight heavy upgrade, nice painter solo, cloud for a solo and some more stones all at the cost of 3 pokers. I must say that looks very tempting. I think I am going to cave for the wolf chicks though. After starting out with eKaya I have been scrambling to set my second caster up to be able to use these awesome models. I was going to do Kromac but he seems overly popular and I want my second caster to be more obscure and difficult to master.

Thanks for the specifics and the wolf rider support!

A quick question too. Is the lord of the feast worth considering? He just costs so much at 4 but I can see him having a lot of synergy with the "killing infantry" theme. I had trouble fitting him into a list that I felt comfortable with overall. Should I keep messing around to try and fit him in or just let the idea go?

I think you can kill enough Infantry with BT´s, crevasse and wolfrider to not care about LotF.
But to me the Lotf is more about killing support models behind the front line than just killing infantry. This can be done by a classic Mohsar SoF run (teleport, spray, teleport back) or via arc nodes (if they or the support are forward enough) or Wolf Riders (they will die afterwards...sad, but true).
