So I certainly intend to go to our local store's colossal release event since getting a Hyperion for cost of entry would save some cash. Was reading through the rules today and noticed you got bonus points for building a "Sanctuary" terrain piece. This actually got me thinking about an idea I had a while back using this dice tower: http://privateerpressforums.com/show...rah+dice+tower
and modifying the template into terrain. Overall it was pretty straightforward, dig up a 120mm base (easy enough I have three I'm not using...don't ask), take the plans and modify the bottom to fit on a 120mm. First I tried to re-size a bit, but realized half size was nearly perfect, so I took the idiot-simple step of just having it print 2 pages to each page of cardstock. I then took the PP side and traced it over the "bottom" piece to get the front and back (the faction symbol sides are a bit large, but I don't feel it detracts too much.) and took a square off the "bottom" piece for the top. I had to trim about 3/4" or so from the bottom (I wasn't precise I just cut where it looked like I needed) to get it fit within the base. I also had to find a door piece to print on some card stock and stick in place of the door and a simple google search for "fantasy door" gave me this wierd warded door of awesome that goes perfectly with the design and even has the right color for the arcane glow. Overall I'd rate the project as simple although it took a few seconds to figure out exactly what the template wanted me to do with the top part. Then just add a base along with basing, flock and some leaf scatter and viola! Took about an afternoon and a good bit was just messing around with sizes before I just had it print 2 pages on a sheet. Hope this helps anyone who is looking for a Sanctuary idea for the event or just wants some colorful Ret scenery (p.s. this might belong in terrain, or a host of other forums, but I'll leave it up the gods of fate i.e. moderators to decide.)
