Default If you had to win on scenario?

So id like to explain a tourney that's coming up. Firstly though, I will be re-posting this in the Legion, Circle, and Khador faction boards, Im pretty decently good with all three, and I wanna hear more than just one opinion. What do you think we do in a tournament, thats guaranteed to come down to Scenario points as the tie breaker, and that there will be 3-4 people tied for first place, so tie breakers are the victory condition. What warlocks do you think we have that excel at scenario so well that that is there only goal in life. I know we have some casters who like to assassinate, but who do you think our central scenario casters are. As I said, it will come down to scenario points as the first tie break, with destruction points as second, so which caster do you think we will have that excel in a environment where its not your win/loss but how many scenario points you score that determines the top 3. So any caster Ideas/ list ideas would be helpful. Im not trying to netdeck here, I'm just looking for some inspiration. There will be quite a few Stormwalls in the running, and none of the July 9th releases will be available, as the tournament will be before then. Your thoughts My fellow Commanders?

I'm a huge fan of eBaldur for central scenarios. A unit of gator men or skin walkers with Rockwall support is really tough to get through, and has won me several tournament games. I still usually take a stalker instead of ghettorix with him, as sprint is a pretty nuts animus for trying to come out ahead on destruction points. Being able to hit with a stalker, sprint back, then jam with heavy infantry behind a wall can do a number on most lists. Took two SR events in a row with eBaldur, and we have a pretty competitive group.

My other thought would be Mohsar. With gallows groves out he has so many options for spell slinging without having to double SOF. His pillars can be a nightmare for any primarily melee army, and CoS helps out with higher armor targets. I just feel like he's a really powerful caster as long as you can protect him, even if his feat oftentimes does nothing. in other games though, his feat can litter ally be a game winner. Just my 2 cents

It very much depends on the type of scenario played.

for a scenario where you need to control flags/zones, eKrueger or pBaldur will do fine. Morvahna can attrition the hell out of your opponent so he has little models left to contest.
If it's about destroying objectives, Kromac and eKaya get get some crazy threat ranges.
if you're aiming for scenario, it is worth considering giving up going first if you have the opportunity, and make a turn 2 rush to get first point.

Lots and lots of good info here. I had yet to consider Ekrueger. I can see his merits.Im gonna have to consider him more. A stormwall cannot shoot him unless it has snipe or kara sloan, due to his anti shooting spell. Maybe run him in tier for camping casters. My original thought had been kromac and Ebaulder. Very interesting.

The problem with the camping casters bit is it doesn't do the job against a Hordes caster and you need to make sure Eiryss hits. I love his theme but he just can't hit hard enough in that list (you top out at PS17).

eKrueger though via TK can help change threat ranges (btw, Gallows Groves are his best friends EVER) and shunt things off of zones if they try to just toe in (which is a common tactic for just trying to contest a zone to keep you off of it). His feat is the obvious one. Sometimes, you cannot use it to get them off an objective but you should also be watching for when you can use it to shove them away from it BEFORE they get on the objective, and thus forcing them to run to even hope to toe it. If you do get this aggressive with the feat, make sure to keep him safe. Get him into some stones to teleport away or pop feat BEFORE moving if you can. I like to use his feat aggressively so I prefer to run him first turn to give me places to feat. If you can keep your stones from being shot turn one, you can place them in positions that will let him walk into them, pop his feat and then get teleported away on their own activation.

pBaldur does scenarios via a terribly difficult feat and just being immovable otherwise. He is really good at getting a point in my experience and then keeping your opponent from getting anymore where eKrueger forces your opponent to be ever mindful of Gallows and TK shenanigans (another fun trick: shift a tree and Gallows to pull them AWAY from the fight and out of the zone) which forces them to either come for your throat or play with something big enough anchoring the center of the zone.

Be wary of things shooting him though. Stormwall is a fantastic spell but it can make you lax. Know the exact range from which you are safe. If they do have access to a range increaser, keep in mind they can back up and shoot...or walk forward and shoot. Yeah, that last one sounds really dumb, but I have forgotten to account for something so simple before and it has gotten him shot.

For love. For honor. For Devilsquid.
