    Default Eiryss3 Work in Progress

Matt Wilson posted in his blog a W.I.P. of Eiryss3. You can see it here.

Sorry for the lack of picture but the man himself requested not to repost the image.

    Enjoy!

I'm definitely going to have to sculpt some hair on after she's released.

As I said on the RoS board, I think she looks a lot like Asajj Ventress from Star Wars:

I'm into elven baldness... it's not like I'm going to date her.

Elves are too pretty, so when I see one with a shaved head, I automatically think they are a badass. It's like they are saying "I don't care about my looks, I just want to kill stuff". Awesome.

Given how the "Eiryss baldness" seems to divide people, they should do two heads like with Vlad3 IMO. Let people have the option.

Looking good. Too bad I will have to find her and kill her so often...

Considering her mentor, I was expecting that. Just removing her hood seems like a statement. It was never really a secret that she was from Ios, but she always kept her ears concealed. Now it seems she doesn't care who sees her for what she's always been.

I own three Mules, and if you asked me if I would buy a fourth, I could not honestly say that I would not ever do so. Do I need to see a doctor?

I'm with you on that one. That's not to say though that that's a negative comment. I dig the art. I'm eager to see the model, and I agree that there should be head options, but that's just me being picky.

Indeed. And a version of Deneghra with a covered belly, because I don't like women in crop tops.
And a version of Haley in lingerie!

And give Vyros hair. Actually, why not give all the elves hair?

Why don't all miniatures have alternative options that suit my personal preferences for attractiveness?

I like the new look. Bald Eiryss is wicked. I hope her and the new unit are nice enough to make her a solid play choice over the other two incarnations.

I think the baldness is a good design choice, it fits the Ret theme well, but I've always had this notion that under all that hood, Eiryss was a ginger (I should have been tipped off that she wasn't by lack of the Soulless special ability).

Yeesh, no wonder she wears a hood most of the time. The light bouncing off that cue ball head would take away Stealth.

I never did get why people thought she had hair in the first place. Most models with hair and a hood pulled up have littel bits of hair escaping the hood or framing the face. Eiryss never had either of these, and then more mage hunters came out being bald so i felt confirmed in my thoughts that she was in the first place.

maybe since i have so little hair myself (curse you mom), i don't see why everythig has to have it. Plus, bald females in a fantasy setting are not that uncommon....

Well played good sir. I always make that joke about Stryker.

I think Eiryss is badass enough to rock the shave head. I've always been more impressed with the facial tattoos among the retribution than their tendency for baldness, then again I play menoth

Said already, she reminds me of Jack from Mass Effect, personally. Overall though the shaved-head and tattoo thing she has going is something I find does a good sign of showing "badass" to a female character I guess. It also makes her stand out in the game as a whole, which is something iconic like her should be doing.

I think she'd look cool painted with some stubble instead of cue ball, myself, but I doubt that is something easy to do anyhow, so this looks good to me.

    And stuff.

Sounds unlikely to me, if you mean a bald head and a hairy head. It makes sense with a helmet, because Vlad can take his helmet on and off at will, neither head contradicts the other. If Eiryss has always been bald in the story, then it makes not much sense to release her with a hair option, since that would conflict with the storyline. If she should come with two heads, the options would be hooded and non-hooded, I think.

That is completely, totally badass awesome art, and leagues ahead of the other Eiryss sculpts imo.

Now if she could only find chest armour that protected her whole front. Is she just going to Rhulic tailors, or something?

This is really awesome :-) only thing that I don't like is that she has that weird ugly double belt that crosses.. Never liked it

Didn't his first post on her say he wanted to allow you to go either with the hood up or down as a choice? Whether that happens or not is one thing but I think it was mentioned as a possibility if I recall. I could remember that wrong I guess.

I have a lot of difficulty understanding how she's going to hit anyone a half inch away with that fairly absurd-looking blade attached to her crossbow. It looks like she's managed to design a weapon with less reach than an open fist, and elbow strikes are pretty difficult to deliver unless you're very up close and personal.

That's probably why she has a sword too. Maybe the blade is more about having a perfectly balanced crossbow pistol thing for better accuracy? Actually hitting someone with it is maybe on a secondary design goal.

I'm not a fan of the tattoos. There's something about belly button rings and neck tats that doesn't scream "elite special ops elf" to me. Does she have a tramp stamp too?

I'm hoping they do the hood up option as well. The bald thing is edgy I guess? But I'll probably just cut off her head and give her a new one anyway if they dont lol! Thank goodness for green stuff

In a knife fight the blade usually points to the rear like the blade on her pistol bow. However, this is fantasy and if it's balanced right she could flip it to have it pointing forward.

In a knife fight the blade usually points out perpendicular to the arm if the wielder holds their arm out straight, which allows for a cutting motion and makes the wielder more resistant to disarm attempts. That weapon really doesn't look like it can be held in such a position - it looks like you're stuck with straight backwards, and have to do Muay Thai style elbow chops to use it effectively.

She prefers DEF16 over ARM 13, obviously.

As for the blade, it probably looks cooler than her old bayonet on a pistol. It's also pretty much the same as Garyth's, and he's a mage hunter, too.

The real danger of the Retribution is their ability to wield impractical weapons with deadly skill. Even their 'jacks can do it.

They have to make her with the hood up... other wise she'll lose stealth!*

*According to the head-covering theory of steath:
    1) Large hat/hood up = stealth (Gorman, Eyriss, Orik)
    2) Small or damaged Hat = prowl (Kell)
    3) Hood in down position = optional stealth (Ayana, Orin)

    or something like that.

Hmm. Shaved heads. Genocidal. Part of an extremist, racist, military organization bent on killing an entire subset of people based on a perceived harm caused to them but without any concrete evidence for said harm. Eh, probably only coincidental.
The cycle we go through with every release:
1st stage - reveal - Wow! Look at the new toys.
2nd stage - spoilers - Booo! They're not as awesome as I imagined!
3rd stage - actual play - Okay, this thing's (usually) not awful.

Awesome picture...but it's an elf, and thus I hate it.
The fact that it's another version of the SEH just make me hate it even more.

It's just occurred to me that all my Trolls that have Quills have them painted Red. Does that mean my Troll army is all bald or Ginger? hum.

I'm with Jake the Dog on who first popped into my mind when I saw the art.

And I don't like it. Not for the baldness, strange boots for a combat character, Shadowrun/Cyberpunk wardrobe, etc... but the bland pose. Eryss1 had an action pose that looked like she was mixing it up in the middle of things. Eiryss2 had a Batman-esque pose (more so with the epic base) that spoke of city assassin. Eiryss3 seems to be posing for a "Punk-chicks with Weapons" rag cover. I mean I understand that it's hard to compete with the first two but this one just feels so bland and unimaginative.

I'm hoping the sculptor does some interesting things with it and doesn't just copy the art.

Destroyers were my first love, but I dabble in everything.

Time spent whining over which faction is overpowered could be better spent playing and bettering one's game. Read page 5 and play.
Farrow, Cryx, Gators, Mercs, Circle, Retribution and Cygnar. Variety is the spice of life.
