Default My first 15pt Army. Input and tips please.

So I'm just starting to play and I have a 15point army (that I don't actually have in my possession yet, but should by the end of today). My list is as Follows...

    • Commander Stryker
    • Lancer
    • Hunter
    • Junior
    • 6-Unit Long-gunner

Any tricks with this list or tips and such would be appreciated. Also recommended units to turn this into a 30 point option as well.

    Welcome to Cygnar!

    So after seeing your list:
    1) Your best bet to take out enemy heavies is the single Hunter which may be a little weak in terms of damage output (although it is only 15 points). I'd think about putting in an Ironclad to help out with jacks/beasts that are interested in pulping your lights and/or caster in melee. It's cheap and can use tremor to help your Long Gunners/Stryker hit better.
    2) I don't see any real need for 2 Arcane Shields in your list. One on Stryker and the other on the Lancer perhaps? Maybe Junior's points are better spent elsewhere.

What i would do for 15 points is just play with jacks for the moment and get the hang of the game that way. This is a list i just thought up of on the spot and should be pretty solid as you should be facing too much infantry in 15 point games.
    Stryker
    Ironclad
    Lancer
    Hunter
Squire - i would DEFINITELY recommend picking up a Squire, it's quite an indispensable solo - extra focus, larger control range, and re-rolls to hit with spells. and only 2 points

Thanks for the input! I'm actually getting the battle box, so I'll have the ironclad I believe, so all I'll need to do to get your list is get a Squire. Basically the Idea of Hunter and Junior came from a Warmachine wiki I was reading.

I'll put together that list and then I'll be able to easily switch between the two armies.

Pstryker is one of the few casters that actually makes long gunners really cool with snipe. At 15 points you won't get everything you need really but a fun list I'd actually like to try would be something like:

    Stryker -6
    ironclad +7

    Long gunners +6

    precursor knights+ua +7

    Stormsmith +1

With snipe on the long gunners they are doing serious damage form 18 inches away and can shoot through the PK's. I would put arcane shield on the ironclad and use it as bait to set up a charge for the knights. Remember when facing jacks colemans gun can be used in a pinch to disrupt and with blur he should be fairly safe form ranged threats.

These are the first things I started with after the battle box....
    Ol Rowdy (Strykers best buddy)
Squire (Used in most lists for Cygnar)
Black 13 (A unit that I use all the time)

Also this is my first 25 point list I have ever run and loved it
    Stryker
    -Lancer
    -Rowdy
    -Squire

Black 13 (Cast Snipe on them and have the just use Brutal Dmg, for some nice ranged power)
    Stormblades
    -UA
    -2 Storm Gunners

Thanks for the tips. I actually just ordered Black 13th last night. I'm up to closer 30-35 points now

The battle box contents are at 11 points i believe (counting strykers warjack allowance) so simply adding the B13 is a good way to bump it to 15.

Id be interested to try some of these lists at home as i have a Menoth player living with me.

I think i may try something with:
    pStryker (+6)
    Ironclad (7)
    Charger (4)
    Minuteman(5)
    and perhaps
    Trencher Cannon Crew(3)
    Master Gunner Solo(2).

It may be a little too over the place considering how the units vary so wildly but the solo can improve the cannon while with a little focus the minuteman can deal with any infantry units that find themselves packed together.

The ironclad is a decent beatstick for the points and isnt too focus hungry and finally the charger is a nifty little jack when in the right position to chuck a couple of focus on. Three focus sees two boosted ranged attacks with boosted damage to boot.

It will require creative shuffling of focus but it should also provide a few different options.

It allows to charge ahead whilst laying down AOE with the cannon crew and also gives a few options for the more reactive player.
