EEEEEEEEEEEEEE I can't wait! I want it now!
We are all legends. Our only choice is how to end the tale...
I'm now going to be checking the App Store every 10 minutes.... great :P
Question if anyone knows...does going "gold" mean anything specificly? I have no idea is why I ask.
Does this mean it will be availible on monday still or do I have to wait longer?
I'm not going to have the money for the decks for at least a month, probably 2.![]()
"Gold" means final draft is finished. They are no longer working on it for release. It's ready for mass production, or in this case, submission to the App Stores for final approval and selling.
The "Gold Disk" for software releases is the final, distributable version of the code that gets sent to the publisher for them to publish and distribute. In this case, it's the version that gets checked in to the various App Stores online, but if it were a physical distribution, it would be the master copy from which all the retail copies would be made.
It's not a question of win or lose, it's a question of whether or not you want to have friends afterwards.
In other words - War Room's release date is now in the hands of Apple, Google, and Amazon. Privateer and Tinkerhouse can do little or nothing more to get it into our hands.
Only a matte of time.![]()

Apple typically takes at least a couple of days to release a new app, so don't wear out your phone just yet. I don't know about Google or Amazon, but I wouldn't expect them to be too much faster.

One thing we don't know to keep in mind is that when you submit an app to either store, you don't have to make it immediately available. This is how people are able to have apps release on specific dates simultaneously. You can choose to have it go through the approval process, then wait on the final go ahead and go live.
I'm hopeful that PP isn't going to make us wait until Monday after the apps are approved, but it's entirely possible that they're waiting until all approvals are received.
I'm very happy with what I'm seeing in regard to it as a product. I am both surprised, happy, and proud of my connection with PP in regards to how many model rules will be made available for free in the free version. It also sounds like a really savvy business move and should help with new players across the board.
On the subject of the "decks". I was worried about a 15/16 dollar digital deck that only includes models out so far for that faction and potentially new DLC packs on a per book basis. Some of that is old information and some of it is cynicism from the general DLC marketplace. $7 future proofed (for MKII) faction decks is another story entirely. That seems like a very fair price point and deal. I've gone from no intention to pick up a deck to strongly considering an impulse buy. I'll wait to see how well designed the app itself is.
All that said...I believe iBodger is kaput and I never shared my thoughts. It was a good program and I highly appreciated it.
::EDIT::
So I haven't really followed War Rooms development much. The program is something I'll draw conclusions of after using. I'm currently curious if anyone can share any info on how it came about...or link/direct me to where I could find it?
I'm also curious if PP will release a "bundle" that includes all the decks or all the decks of a specific type.

PP won't be publishing sales figures, I'm sure, but I'm very interested in seeing how they do with War Room, since opinions seem divided over it. I'm a member of the camp who thinks they did not price this out correctly - I would have charged a *lot* less for the app and then charged again with each new release, for example. We'll pretty quickly be finding out how popular this thing is in practice.![]()
From the FAQ
Privateer Press will be offering three special bundles for users who wish to purchase multiple decks. The WARMACHINE bundle will include the decks for all six WARMACHINE factions for $35.99. The HORDES bundle will include the decks for all five HORDES factions for $29.99. The Ultimate bundle includes all decks for both WARMACHINE and HORDES for $59.99.
WARMACHINE/Hordes no more.
Well just remember if it crashes under app review it will get rejected. So I personally am hoping the app store review team puts it through it's paces. My trust in tinkerhouse is very low. If I buy it and it crashes I am gonna be really 9!553d after the shift in dates and change in spec. If Apple blesses it great, but if they don't I am sure it will be Apples fault and not the actual code developer because that could not possibly be a reason.
Crashy apps get through the verification process all of the time. Apple doesn't have the manpower or time to exhaustively test every application for crashes. If you get through the startup screen an basic functionality test alright they let it pass. I've certainly had plenty of buggy apps on my phone over the years.

The Protectorate of Menoth: We're on a mission from God.
So long as it doesn't crash before I can see cards, I fully intend to buy the full set the day it's out. I've been trying to come up with a way to get all the cards as reference material (without spending $400ish), and War Room is well worth $60 for that alone.
To me, of course. Your mileage may vary.
I don't recall if it was ever answered, but would I be able to buy one war room for multiple devices? I currently have an android phone, and intend to buy a tablet soon. I'd hate to get ann ipad and find out I have to buy it all over again.
Best way to cure faction envy? Play all of them. Just don't tell your wife ;o)
Yep. From the FAQ:
Will I be able to access army lists I create on one device from a different device?
Yes. All your user data, including army lists, will sync to your account regardless of which device you use to create that data.

Honestly, what I want to know is PP going to stop people from making a collection app? While I understand the big push for a list creator/game enhancement app, I could care less. 90% of the time I used iBodger, I was using the collection app. Now if War Room has a collection function then I'm all in. I know this is coming off a flippant for how most seem to feel for War Room, but it seemed like it took a really long time to get a similar question answered the last time I asked, hence my tone.
Don't forget, the app is a free download that comes with all of the starter boxes (whether or not it is sold as an actual box*) and everything in Prime and Primal.
You'll be able to do plenty of testing and crashing before you have to pay anything to get the decks.
*Given the that the release statements say the app comes with a selection of mercenary, minion, Retribution cards, I think it's safe to say we'll see the Journeyman battleboxes for those factions included in this app.

i'm stoked i wont have to worry about misplaced cards anymore. i don't know how many times i've left a card at home for a model i have only 1 of. while i remember most of the stats for my faction and a good share of the rules i don't like to play it from memory.
me: i'm going to use special ability xyz.
opponent: how does that work? let me see your card.
me: oh, i don't have it with me but trust me, it totally works that way.
yeah that's not gonna happen. plus having access to every faction's rules will be awesome as i don't have any of the other forces books or decks. so count me in for the whole enchilada.
Buying the whole shabang will definitely depend on how the program runs the damage and flipping through cards. I might just buy the khador deck and wait for it to be fully updated and refined. But call me excited.
I play Khador, Minions, and soon to be Convergence of Cyriss.
Yea Ninja.. I have twice left my whole card folder at home... that was very sad. Once I drove the 26 minutes there and back to get them and the other time I borrowed a set of cards from a friend. It's just sad though. Hopefully this will work well enough for me not to have that issue any more.
Dear PP: If I buy one (or five) decks and later decide to upgrade to the whole $60 shebang, do I get a discount?
I just realized the merc deck likely won't include all those tasty units we get to "borrow" or the allies... Makes me a little sad.

Unless they changed their mind las FAQ says you do.
Will faction decks contain Mercenary or Minion cards that work for that faction? Will Mercenary and Minion decks contain cards for Ally units or non-Mercenary or Minion units that are allowed as part of specific Theme Forces or Contracts?
Players who wish to field Mercenaries or Minions in their armies will need to purchase the Mercenary or Minion faction deck. Those faction decks will include the stat cards for Ally units and for non-Mercenary and Minion units that are allowed as part of specific Theme Forces or Contracts.
WARMACHINE/Hordes no more.
I'm doing all decks! Convenience and cool all in the same place.

I apparently fail at FAQ and only skimmed like some sort of monster.
::edit:: No wait I just never read the FAQ. War Room Gone Gold is the only article on the subject I've actually looked at.
Thanks for the link to the FAQ. Reading.
::edit 2:: Well that's pretty clear. I'm not super happy with the answer to "Do I need to purchase faction decks to build army lists?". It rather mitigates the free stuff appeal. Ties into the lack of collection manager as being a lose of functionality. I like everything else I'm seeing so far though.
::edit 3: War Room doesn't seem nearly as good as iBodger for Pressgangers looking to double check a list's legality quickly. I'd expect adaptation to something else or perhaps shelling out for the $60 bundle so they can do it. I suppose PG program can have a promo for PGs but then non-PG TOs get nothing.
Ehh suppose it's still wait and see.

I wonder why the Android delay. I'm about to release an app for Android, and while I haven't actually submitted it, it does seem that the process is automated and should take all of 10 minutes.
Perhaps PP desire at least the Android/iPhone versions to come out simultaneously.
If you go to a store and the sell 1 apple for 1$, 5 apples for 4$, or 10 apples for 7$ , if you buy the 5 for 4$ do you reall expect to go back next week and give him three dollars for 5 more? Volume discounts are to support impulse buys, so I would guess not.
Also remember all the models from prime/primal are I'm the base app so you can try before you buy
Cryx 238 models----------- Everblight 101 Models--------------- Khador 111 models
Mercenaries 118 Model----- Models------------------ Menoth 147 models

Just checked the Apple Apps - still nothing. I'm worse than a kid at Christmas....
from my understanding it can be at least around 4-7 days for the app store (apple) to approve your app and that's assuming they do approve it. It's possible that they worked out a "fast pass" deal to get their app though quicker but honestly I would not expect to see it until at best mid to end of next week.
