Default My idea for Legion of Everblight eyes.

Hello all, I am going to redo my LoE models, I have made a vast improvement in painting models over the last two years. Anyways, I want to paint the eyes of the nyss black and want to have them with a very shiny look to them. I have terrain water and am thinking of using that on the eyes. Do you guys think that will be enough? Should I get a high gloss sealant for the eyes? Will this effect even be noticeable?
I use a brush on sealant then use testors dull cote spray. I will be doing the eye effect after the spray.
Has anyone tried this in the past, if so did you have any success.
    Thanks in advance.

I would not even bother trying because it is not fluffy at all to have legion with eyes, that is just my personal opinion anywho.

The warbeasts would of course be left out. As well p and e Lylyth. You would be surprised how many models in Legion of Everblight actually have eyes.

Could look really nice, but its probably hard to pull off well, water effects are tricky to work with IMO. I was really tempted to add it to my Throne's tentacles but decided against it, I would hate to ruin a centerpiece model like that.

Yeah man, this is would be easy as. Just paint the eyes black then after your varnish is done go back and paint on the water effect (or any gloss varnish really). If your really keen paint the eyes in a dark grey, give them a black wash, then apply the water effect.

However, sooner or later this is probably going to test your patience. Apart from the Ogrun/Thagrosh, this will not really be too noticeable on the table top.

I wouldn't bother with the water effects. I would just use brush-on gloss coat and then matte costs he skin. Easier in the long run

I don't know, dude. I sealed my Agonizer's eyes with gloss varnish to make it look like he had been crying, and I didn't like the effect at all. Ended up stripping him and starting over.

In my (limited) experience, if the rest of the model has a dull matte look to it, the glossy parts just look unrealistic (gemstones might be an exception).

If you want to draw attention to your Nyss's shiny black eyes, then go for it. But you might be better off with matte black eyes, especially if you're going for the hollow, soulless look.

Unless you have the model a few inches from your face you'll never notice the effect you want on the table top. If you want to try anyway I think brushed on gloss varnish would be the way to go.

    Your opinion is incorrect.

As for the actual question, water effects will likely be too thick and gloopy to make good for such a small area. Gloss Varnish is likely the way to go, as well as a sharp highly along a normal highlight area.

I think your best bet would be to paint them black, then give them a tiny white hotspot to show reflectivity. An actual gloss surface might work, but I don't think it would be too noticable, and I don't think the actual light would catch them in such a way as to show them off enough.

Easiest trick is using fine pin and make a small hold onto the model where you need it bright spot. Paint black and make a dot wash of white in to hold. It will be sunk into hole. I alway use this method to paint pupil.
