Default Need Help with picking a Solo Merc with Epic Stryker

I have all the goodies I normally like in my 35pt list, but I have 2pts I initially spent on a Stormsmith and Reinholdt, but neither have played well in my test games.

I am looking for a 2pt solo (Merc or Cygnar) that will compliment an all Attrition/Assassin based list. My first scan gave these:

    Anastasia Di Bray
    Madelyn Corbeau
    Gorman Di Wulfe
    First Mate Hawk

All have something that would help eStryker do what he does best. The rest of my list has the usual suspects for an eStryker list:

Lancer, Ol' Rowdy, Squire, Black 13th, Max Boomhowler & Co, Runewood, Jr, and Eiryss

I usually use this list as an Attrition tarpit while maneuvering solos and Stryker to objectives or Casters.

If you have suggestions can you explain why the solo is good etc?

    Thanks

I would go with Murdoch for 2 points to help out the boomhowlers and enable them to benefit from Strykers feat.

Oops, well that solves it. I played with him in the list, but forgot to add in his points. That means I am good. Murdoch has been great at three things in this list:

    1. Assault for Boomie
    2. Stryker's Feat
    3. Dig In against certain opponents

+1 to Jonas He makes it possible for Runewood to affect Boomhowler and he is phenomenal with them.

But I will recommend getting Gorman. He is definitely worth having and is a major threat with black oil. Also, which version of Eiryss are you using?
So play like you've got a pair, or put down the metal and go find something made of plastic.

Madeline Corbeau is good with Stryker2 also. 3" extra threat range for that monstrosity is nothing to ignore.

But yes, Murdoch is the way to go here since he'll allow Boomhowler to have pathfinder and be affected by deflection.

As well as Reveille, Path to Victory, Rolling Thunder and Positive Charge... Seriously, if you play the Lord Commander, your infantry better be faction one way or another.

That makes me wonder whether those eleven points would not better be spend on other things, e.g. max SKs and a unit of SBs?

Lancer = Rebuke and Positive Charge

He isn't always needed, but sometimes when I can't get Boomhowler into a good position and I know I'll get charged, its beautiful.

Moral of the story, Stryker needs to realize stormnouns don't cut it, get on the merc train, and stop being such a patriot with his spells

I would spend the 2 points to upgrade the lance to Thorne, positive charge on him makes him quite the unexpected missile. If you don't want to go that route, Gorman is the best 2 point solo in the game and there's not even a close second.

I tried dropping the Lancer for x3 solos and each solo is nice, but then the list flips to less strength and only one Jack.

I discovered I like Harlan Versh just enough with eStryker - his Quad Iron allows for infantry removal almost as much as a Full unit of Gun Mages which is what Stryker needs. I also added Gorman as we all know how awesome he can be and I found a few combos that have worked well:

Ol' Rowdy + eStryker = Tremor Attack on my target and surrounding models allows for easy assassination runs.

Ol' Rowdy + Gorman + eEiryss + Stryker = wow! If you pull this chain it should be over! Rowdy moves up and Tremors (giving Gorman an easy Black Oil Target hopefully within an inch or so for the template), Gorman throws Black Oil, Eiryss tags and removes Focus etc and Stryker moves in for the kill.

Harlan + Ol' Rowdy = Rowdy uses tremor up on targets near the route to the caster, Harlan then almost auto hits with Quad Iron and possibly Purgation to remove enemy units from path, Stryker moves in for kill.

I have found that the typical edge assassination run can be harder then a Caster hiding behind two lines of infantry. eStryker with Arcane Shield and 7 Focus on a Charge will be at Arm 26 so Free Strikes won't mean much.

This is in the final stage:

    Lancer
    Ol' Rowdy
    Squire
    Max - Boomhowler & Co.
    Murdoch
    Runewood
    eEiryss
    Gorman
    Harlan Versh
    Journeyman Warcaster

why not Rhupert? Won't need the tough, but the +1 DEF and extra pathfinder is always nice. Especially if you need to use pathfinder on both Stryker and the Boomies.
