The amount of self-entitlement here is amusing.
The app could delay another month for all I care. Just get it out functioning properly.

...The app approval process is very well known to be completely sporadic.
I figured that the app would not be released for IOS and Amazon devices on the 9th, but I had hoped that they would be releasing the Android version today.
It's been a trend though, to have Android users suffer later releases because iOS devices have had a longer verification process, I was hoping Tinkerhouse games would have bucked the trend.
...Or at least kept THAT info hidden while advertising a later date (Such as the 13th) and having it released simultaneously. That way those not savvy to how mobile releases work do not have to worry... while having those that do know how it work grumbling under their breath about the fall of Apple. :P
What's that? This thread devolved into an Apple vs. Android debate? Say it aint so!
Apple vs Android is the new Godwins law.
Totally agree!
I'm realy disappointed, that Tinkerhouse & PP don't release the App today in the Android Market. I use Android for a reason and it is time that some firms stand up against Apple & Amazon! Hopefully someone at Tinkerhouse have the guts to press the publish button, to keep the release date once!
Also keep in mind, that the Android User had to wait because Tinkerhouse had to make some changes 'cause of the higher resolution of the new iPad...
I look at War Room as an added value good. I have the cards and love to use them. I have iBodger for making lists on the go (outdated, of course). What I look forward to is having an app that can look pretty while doing both of these jobs. Do I need it? Nope. Is it great to have? Hell yeah! I'm just not going to throw a fit if its here today, tomorrow, or a month from now. Look at it this way: PP's market is miniatures. To put it into allegory, Models are the burger, Rules are the fries, and Fluff is the drink. War Room is the collectible cup. Does it make the meal itself better? Not really. All the other stuff will be just fine without it. But it does add value to the experience. I understand your passion for the game and anticipation for the app, but there's always painting to keep busy with, right?![]()
It always happens when something gets delayed because of the restrictions of another system and the word gets out.
I have a fairly solid idea of the app approval process for iOS and Android, and most Android fanatics know it as well. The only difference is that people don't usually announce a release date like that without planning on having the app completed 1-2 weeks before the given date. The average user won't know that the Android version was completed 2 weeks ago, so they won't care so much.
My quip was merely a joke...
July 9th was never a hard release date. It was an anticipated release date. Privateer communicated that clearly. They communicated clearly last week when they stated the app had gone gold, even going so far as to explain exactly what that meant.
Paraphrasing: The application has gone gold and has been submitted to the various app stores for Apple, Android, and Kindle devices.
Neither "anticipated release date" nor "going gold" are arcane industry terminology.
Might just be a Meta thing, but not seeing a vast majority of the people I play with using Apple products. At best it is nearly a 50 50 split and I dare say I've noticed more android users than i-Products.
And from the stats I am seeing, Android is gobbling up the market share at about 59% of smart phones sold (with a projected decline to 53% over the next four years) where Apple products seem to be remaining steady at right about 20. Link .
I think it would be interesting to find out if PP has done the research into their audience to see what the segmentation is, and I am sure they have, but I doubt the profit from iOS vs any other OS is statistically significant.
The only thing I rage about this whole fiasco around the War Room is that iBodger was taken down with the actual WarRoom App no where near close to release. Making N3mo lists and putting StormWall on lists has been annoying :I

Batman is extremely correct (YOU tell him he isn't, I dare you). PP could have handled this much better than they did, and I sincerely hope they're taking notes so future software releases, such as the hopefully-not-vaporware Whitemoon Dreams game, are handled more elegantly.

I honestly think they are both to blame. Don't get me wrong I love PP and will continue to give them lots of money. The dates they said when it would first be released would have had to have come from talks between them and Tinkerhouse. Tinkerhouse didn't plan properly on a realistic date to get the app out. On that end it is their fault. The fault for PP I find comes from lack of updates and communication to the community. I don't care at this point, we've waited like 2 millennia for this thing already, so what's a couple of more days.
Just wish I had ibodger in the 5 month interim.

You could just release the Google Play version today. I'll give you cookies....

And if they released the iOS version ahead of Android, you'd be complaining then too. This way, it's equally unfair to everyone.
Releases always have some amount of unfairness to them. Is it 'fair' that Cygnar has their colossal out now, but Circle does't have their gargantuan? No. but that's the way it is.

Non-comprehensive list of ways to handle this in ways that generate less rage:
1) Do not ask whicken to take down iBodger until War Room is actually out.
1.5) Ensure that War Room can do everything that iBodger can do.
2) Let customers know when and what is going on, as accurately as possible.
2.5) Issue information updates in as timely a manner as possible.

I have to disagree with the whole 'unfair to everyone' argument completely. Gaming companies have been doing this for many years. I have never once been upset at a company releasing a game for say PS3 before xbox or even exclusively to it. How many people would honestly blame PP for somehow not magically rushing apple? I think that number would be VERY few. I find the.whole 'punish android users by waiting for Apple's excruciatingly slow reviewal process' absurd. I would hardly be upset at PP if it was on iOS first. Is the opposing market really that angry? I find that very hard to believe.
I figured it would get delayed again, but I find it annoying that I am forced to wait because one developer has a different process for approving apps than others. I'm glad they don't wait for all distributors to get the models before releasing them for us to use.

Or he got into the game or bought a suitable device after it was pulled.
Heaven knows I'm going to buy the thing one way or another. But don't try and feed me this line about releasing sometime around or aproximately or whatever. You can't tell folks it will be for Christmas and then finally put it on the shelves January 10th. Someone made a mistake. Period, end of sentence. Is it a world ender?
Hold on! I'm deciding.......
Okay, fine. It's probably not.
But I'm still annoyed that something I've been looking forward to for quite sometime is delayed yet again even if only for a few days. I want to give them my money and I'd bet most anything they'd like to have it.
And just to be clear. I've never heard the term Going Gold in my entire life. Maybe because I never became a console/pc game junky. And maybe because it actual is an arcane industry term.![]()
I will say, I am not at all surprised that the "Gone Gold" announcement was just that a release to distribution. With that however, I have devices in all three ecosystems, and waiting because of Apple/Amazon does not faze me at all. Granted I could download it for whichever device was released first, but if I was a single ecosystem user it would annoy me to no end seeing the 180000+ posts on how great/awful War Room is.

I would have liked a bit more information. I've been waiting for this since it was announced. I've moved cross country twice in the past year and have misplaced more than a few cards. I've had models without rules sitting on my shelf for almost half a year because I didn't want to rebuy the card packs and then this app.
This whole thing is just becoming aggravating.
You'd definitely recognize the term if you were a video game junkie. Back before release dates became something standard and games were just released "when they were done" it was pretty common that the first clue of a release date was the announcement that the game had "Gone Gold". These days they don't announce it as often as the release date has been known for months and going gold is just.... required prior to that date, but before that, it was usually what you were waiting to hear.
