Hey Neutralize,
First of all thank you so much for this thread. Its really helped me start out with Legion and be successful with it so far. I've been focusing on EVayl at the moment and I've really enjoyed her playstyle, but I don't know if eLylyth will make a good partner for her. My area will soon be filled with colossals (we just recently started a Warmachine/Hordes group at our gaming store) so I'm thinking eLylyth can handle Colossal lists and eVayl for whatever eLylyth can't handle.
What do you think?
Hey Neut, I was just listening to RtW and they pointed out you feel that Legion has a number of strong pairings for SR 2013. They broke it down into two camps: Elylyth/ Evayl and Pvayl/Saeryn. I was thinking about it, and I kinda got to agreeing with them. My only other thought was that I also really like Kallus, but outside of him, those are almost always the casters I feel fit together best and cover all of our weaknesses.
I know its a blanket statement, which can be unfair, but would you agree that those are the best two ways of splitting our casters into camps?
Second question, which lead from thinking about it is against Colossals. When I started getting competitive I really relied on Elylyth to carrying me. She dictates list matchups well, has strong assassination and attrition but brutal scenerio. A lot of people say that Evayl is better in that regard, as she also has really good assassination and attriction, but can play more forward with her battlegroup. My biggest concern is what happens if you get stuck against a Gargossal with her? I don't feel like Double ravagores without Pin cushion, and only two shots, plus two oblits are enough. If I commit angels and I fluff damage then I feel like thats the game. Whats your take on that situation?
Saeryn should be the only auto include warlock in list pairing for 2013. Her scenario ability and matchup really warp a players list choices. Elylyth can be paired with evayl or saeryn. I wrote an article about list pairings last year over at Muse on Minis. If you haven't read it I think you will find some good information.
Neut,
Ive read a majority of this thread and seen many responses of talking about locations you've posted articles in the last year and on. I've found podcasts you've done recently but I am having a hard time finding articles done by you.
Do you think you could take the time to link me some of the locations where your articles are posted? The only article locations I know about right now are the ones from Omnus.
Interesting event coming up next month. Two caster format, but this time with a shared battlegroup; both casters warbeast points apply, either one of their control areas allows forcing, and both can leech Fury from the same beast, but reaving from a destroyed beast must go all to one or the other. 15 points, mangled metal Tooth and Claw (list building, not win condition).
Since Lylyth3 will officially be out, I was thinking running her and Ethags. Only combines for 8 Warbeast points, but with it being 15 points of all beasts and jacks, I figure that Lylyth3's feat could be very ball busting with only a handful of models around, giving me an edge in attrition. Meanwhile, eThags can kinda double as a heavy in late game, and is protected by Wind Wall.
Was thinking:
Lylyth3: +5
Thagrosh2: +3
Scythean 9
Seraph 8
Shredder 2
Shredder 2
Shredder or Stinger 2
What do you think? At one point I was thinking of changing Seraph to Ravagore by dropping one lesser, but I'm pretty stoked to stack Slipstream on top of Escort.
Saeryn definitely crossed my mind, but I just ran her in a pretty mean list for a 50 point Steamroller this past Saturday, so I'm kind of in the mood to try something different. Heck, I'm tempted to give one of my other 6 factions a day in the limelight, but Lylyth3 will have that new model smell!
Hi from Australia,
I think I have missed most of your 3Lylyth discussion but I'm going to resurrect it.
I have a muck around tournament coming up and really want to run 3Lylyth.
3Lylyth
Angelius
Scythean
Shredder
Seraph
Naga
Max Raptors
2 Deathstalkers
2 Forsaken
2 Shepherds
Succubus
I know it will get dominated by man spam khador/cryx lists so it will likely have fairly specific match ups. The naga is in there because there is not much point getting the drop on enemy heavies on feat turn if my beasts are dice minus a million on damage. It can also chime in with a feat turn ranged attack. Raptors for feat turn and movement shenanigans with light cav moves. I really like the seraph because ride by attacks and slip stream means you can move beasts around in really hard to predict ways.
Have I gone too heavy on fury management? Doesn't seem like there is much point in having a spell martyr in there. I guess a feralgeist might work just to toe scenario zones.
Cheers
Hi Neut,
Which caster is your go to against EHaley?? And why??
Cut the two shepherds. They are slow and they will have a hard time keeping up. If anything, at least cut 1. Her feat isn't made to stop the entire enemy army but to lock down key targets so you can force them into circumstances that give you first strike or scenario advantage. My only worry in your list is it looks like it can hit rather soft.
Whats your plan agaianst eHaley, I find her a pain in the bum:-(
If I may ask, why Saeryn and pVayl? I feel that dedicated shooting greatly hurts both those armies in similar ways (kill the beasts). Is their something with either caster im missing to help the ranged game? Or are you using your feat to jam their guns with your models to buy your battlegroup time to do its job?
What do you call ranged armies? List an example as vayls list has raptors, seraph, ravagore, typhon as ranged elements. Elylyth is what I think our referring to as my dedicated shooting list. It helps with my Menoth and cygnar matchup but to miss a lot of hordes matchups when switching out pvayl.
